Productive and proud!

Hey mommas!

I dont know about you girls, but I feel such a sense of accomplishment and pride with every baby item we get and put together. May sound silly, but really, it fills me with a lot of joy to get something done. We're house-hunting so I cant go overboard with anything, costwise or decorationwise. But gosh did I feel amazing putting together the pack and play this weekend. I also picked up the topper for our dresser and attached it safely. Progress is being made and I feel the need to brag about it! Between being stuck on rest for ages and still not being allowed to do much at all, it feels amazing to be getting things ready. Even if the pack and play is currently also my bookcase until DH moves some of his college books to the storage.. ;)

The pup has been laying next to the pack and play since I set it up, so I just put her pillow there. Who knows, she may end up wanting to be close to baby or something.

Anyone want to brag with me? I cant be the only one that feels this way!

Re: Productive and proud!

  • Yay for productivity! I cannot wait to get some of our baby stuff put together. We're moving to our new house a month after DS arrives, so I won't be able to decorate his nursery until then. However, I have already started organizing some things and throwing junk away, because there's no way I'm going to feel like doing all of this when our boy gets here! I feel so accomplished like I'm actually getting stuff done. I guess the nesting bug has finally bit me because I can't stop cleaning either. I love it!

By the way, your puppy is adorable. I love the brown patch over her eye!

  • Way to go Momma!!! We are still trying to get the room ready, we decided to redo all the original hardwoods in our house which includes the babies rooms so I can't really do to much yet. Soon we will be ready to sand and stain the floors can't wait as they are going to look awesome but first we have to get up the parquet floors that someone decided to GLUE do on top of the originals in the dining room!! I am so ready to get his room ready we already have almost all the nursery furniture just waiting to get it all in there!!

  • My mom and I painted what will be the nursery this weekend. We repainted all the woodwork white then painted the walls. It took forever but I am SO GLAD it's done! Next up, my husband and father will be putting hardwood in that room :)
  • I found this (https://hellogiggles.com/monkey-loves-puppies/) video of a little monkey loving on a litter of puppies!!
I'll try and top it by finishing my work now, cooking dinner tonight and looking for nursery items online. :)
  • Yes! This weekend we got so much done, full scale cleaning, organizing and purging. I think the nesting bug has hit my husband too :-) Best of all the glider came in early, it is PERFECT! Now it's Monday and I am exhausted.
  • I moved into my current house in May and I HATE organizing and putting things away. Suddenly (I'm attributing it to nesting) I'm in the mood to get shit handled! I have his crib and bookshelf set up and in my room (one bedroom), and I finally got most of the crap off my couches and floor in the living room. I can see almost all of the floor which is huge progress for me, haha! My dear sister... she loves organizing and came over to "help" me a couple of weeks ago. She only got to the spread-out-all-the-things-so-you-can-see-it-all stage and then it was late and she had to go home....not so helpful.  X_X I made a plan to get everything in its place this week - a little each day - so, hopefully this urge to nest sticks for a bit!

I was so productive a few weeks ago when my husband was off work from surgery. He was bored so he helped me pick out a paint color for the nursery and we painted (well mostly me since he couldn't do much) then we got the crib put together. I also painted a piece of furniture someone gave us pink so it would match the room.

Now I'm at a standstill until my shower :( We have people buying us a glider rocker, changing pad, and mattress. So after that the room will be complete. I still can't make myself buy other stuff until after I see what I get at the shower.

I'm in nesting mode and all I can think about is baby but there's nothing to do right now! :(
  • @audreyb12 I'm in the same biat, I'm waiting for after our shower in two weeks to figure out what I need.
  • Yay! I feel the same way too. :) I'm still waaaay behind on big items (my baby showers were... interesting) so I'm slowly buying pieces to complete everything. However, I have nearly the exact same pack n' play as yours!! :)

  • I made bows. I'm trying desperately to avoid making the giant bows that would dwarf DD's head, but anyway . . .

I've almost finished the first Christmas gift on my list (it will be an ornament when it's done). And I finally restrung a necklace that I made too short before, which I'll be giving my mom for Christmas.

@BrooklynBroussard Girl, learn to be more etiquettes. That post was supermean!  :-B

@Audreyb12 I'm in the same boat. No idea what we'll get at the shower so I'm kind of having to hold off on most things. Between that and knowing we'll move at least before March makes for not much I can do.

  • I'm still looking for a house to move into...I win on the unprepared game!

Dont worry, we're in the same boat! Meeting with the bank tomorrow to discuss a pre-approval to really start house hunting. Dont worry girl, we got this! :)

  • I've been doing all the fun stuff like making blankets and stuffed animals for baby. I also washed and organized all the clothes and baby stuff we have so far. Felt great to get it organized! I'll get to the other stuff next week...making and hanging blackout curtains, etc.
  • I've been throwing stuff out left and right trying to downsize! It's amazing how much crap you accumulate over the years. My house lacks storage space so I've had to get creative. I'm the opposite of a pack rat and I love cleaning so it's been a fun process :) I'm currently putting together a rolling cart ($30 from ikea!) that will aid in my postpartum recovery. Breast pads, diapers, tissues, wipes, bottles of water, lanolin, etc. I can move that sucker room to room and have everything I need. You better believe I ponied up $30 for those perineal ice packs, too. And some numbing spray.
  • @ameares721, a rolling cart is a great idea!! I imagine I'll alternate between the nursery and the living room at times. I've had my eye on one at Ikea but wasn't sure we needed it for a specific use. Now I've got one :)
  • Loving this cart idea! Might have to jump on board.

Agreed, this cart thing might be the best idea yet! Will have to look for one :)

We just installed new hardwood so we need to stain and poly the flooring, I can't wait but I definitely won't have the actual nursery ready until baby gets here. Finishing the floors will be the final step.

I can't wait to feel the satisfaction of putting everything together. My nesting however has kept the house clean :)
  • I just dragged DH to babies r us at 8:30 pm, because I HAD TO HAVE the highchair and bedding set, tonight. I've put the bedding set in the crib, even though I've not washed the fitted sheets yet.. I figured I'd get that done tomorrow and just have it on there for now, I love how done it's all starting to look! With the bedding in place, I also put up the musical mobile. Then I hung the diaper stacker and unpacked the hamper, got the dresser topper filled with wipes etc, and installed the car seat base.

    The nesting is real right now. 8-}

Planning to start washing sheets and clothes tomorrow, as we also picked up a big container of dreft with a 20% off coupon. We saw the swing we wanted on sale a few days ago on amazon, and that came in today too so I'll be setting that up when Im done washing/putting away all the things we got at our shower over the weekend. I'm finally starting to feel prepared!

We're still looking for a house, so chances are we'll be packing all this stuff back up before baby gets here.. But I figured not doing anything yet isnt an option either. I dont want to have to scramble to get everything done when we bring her home if we dont find anything and/or she decides to come a bit early.

Attaching a picture of the crib as it's looking right now. Forgive the bags right next to it, like I said I still have things I need to put away from our shower :) We've decided against a crib bumper because of all the safety warnings with them, I'm a massive worrier.

I have not been as productive this summer as I had hoped. I have a little adhd when it comes to nesting. I wanted to register for some books (my SIL is throwing us a sprinkle, I think that's what it's called). I decided to go through my sons books first to see what he had that could be passed to this LO. Well that turned into a whole room redo for DS3. Paint, furniture, purging clothes and toys, everything! I also painted our room because DD2 will be sharing with us for the first year and her new furniture pieces made my walls look dingy. <---- insert DH eye rolling here!
Still don't have a crib, need to make the skirt, rail guard, and a quilt. I did however finish the mobile and get it hung! :)

    Edit: photo insert got wacky!
  • The nesting urge is real! This weekend I washed all the blankets and sheets we have and all the towels and washcloths. I am planning on washing some newborn and 0-3 clothes. We went and got Ikea drawer organizers for the dresser which won't be here until Friday. Everyday I sit in the nursery looking for something to do that won't just leave a mess for now since I don't have all the furniture yet.
  • We finished our nursery over the weekend, so that is a huge sigh of relief. I also got birthday party invitations sent out for DS's 10th birthday and a few other small projects around the house.

Yesterday I went through and started a before baby arrives and an after baby arrives to do list. Thankfully, the after is muck longer than the before! Most of the before projects are small and I plan to try to tackle one a night, but gosh is it hard during the week! It's the last thing I feel like doing after work!
  • Love the cart idea. Don't know if it will be worth it for me with 2 floors but I'll see. I plan to have a portable changing pad/station set up downstairs in guest room since that's where I'll spend my days. Then I bought an organizer to hang on dresser for nursery. Our bassinet had a basket underneath so that will work good for our room in the interim. I still have to decide the plan for diapers and stock up on those and wipes but other than that we got a lot done this weekend! Bought out rest of essentials on our registry, washed most clothes, towels, sheets. Biggest things on the list are packing bag and setting up swing and pack and play which I don't want to do too early!
