The only book that I ready was "The Baby Whisperer Solves all your Problems" . I got some good tips out of it that I have used. DS just started sleeping through the night about a week ago. And I have come to the realization that he would just sleep through when he was ready. I have never had to let him CIO I guess he just eventually figured it out on his own. He always slept in his crib since day one.
Are you still feeding DC at night? That is what I got from the book to break that and I think that is what helped. He did continue to wake after I broke him of the night time bottle but I could then get him to go back to sleep. And now keeping my fingers crossed he has been STTN for just over a week now. But I am sure that he will hit another stage or phase and things might get shook up. But I guess it comes with the territory of having a baby. I have just come to accept this.
I recommend that book though as it deals with more then just Sleep issues and other things that cause sleep issues. GL
well, i can only speak from one night's success... but we did a modified ferber/sleep easy last night (dd used to sleep well but the past 2 months has only slept if she was in bed with or on me- otherwise she was literally up every hour) and she cried for 46 minutes with dh and checking in with her at intervals (5, then 10, then 15) and patting her and talking/singing to her for 5 minutes max each time and it worked... she slept 11 hours, had to be woken up at 7am with only one little wake up at 3am and she went right to sleep once i went in and repositioned her (she was stuck on her side against the side of the crib). my only concern is that she is definitely a stomach sleeper... i was up many times worried because she wasn't awake and she was always back on her belly.
it took me a while to be able to stomach the crying, but i don't want to cosleep and was literally up all night for two months so had to try... and look forward to hopefully repeat success tonight!
Ferber has been a miracle for us. DD was a former swing sleeper and we couldnt get her to sleep in her crib very long. She was waking up 15-45 mins after going to sleep and crying then waking up around 11 and again every 2 hours to eat. After 1 night of Ferber we saw some improvement and within a week and a half she was STTN.
Dr. Ferber is my new best friend. DS was a terrible sleeper until we started Ferberizing. The first 2 nights were tough but after that we saw results fast. Good luck!
Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child is our favorite book. I was really against any crying, but we were falling apart and needed to try something new. DS was waking up a lot in his crib and I was exhausted from co-sleeping for half of the night. I just didn't sleep well. Anyway, the book I mentioned has great info about sleep throughout the day and how that impacts their nighttime sleep. It's similar to Ferber. I have both books, but referred to HSHHC more. The first night was really hard, but by the second night he basically STTN! It's obviously not for everyone, but DS is sleeping so much better (and I am, too.) We just started this last week. GL! Sleep issues are really hard on everyone.
