Extra body odor?

ok tmi post! Sorry in advance. I work in an AC'd pharmacy, I live in a house blasting AC, I live on Long Island where the humidity sucks. But every summer, besides this one I never smell!! I have to literally apply deodorant at least 3 times a day or I start smelling. Is this normal? This is my first pregnancy. Thank you in advance!

  • I am also a ftm, and have noticed this!!!! Usually never notice any smell, now I easily get some B.O. lol
  • Ugh I'm in the same boat, I don't know if it's the heightened sense of smell or I actually smell as terrible as I think!

I live in key west so it's just hot as hell here anyways, and it doesn't help that we're having one of the hottest summers on record. My understanding is that it's very normal with pregnancy, with all the hormones and everything.

I use natural deodorant as well, so I find myself apologizing often. :))
  • You are going to experience a lot of new smells coming from your body in all kinds of places. Congrats on the pregnancy lol.
  • I've noticed I'm sweating a lot more and much easier that normal. I work in a pharmacy too, and I have a fan that I use at my station. It helps tremendously.
  • Yes. I use the spray baby powder to help a little with the sweating. Also I feel like the BO got worse after I had baby #1. Maybe it's just me though!
  • My husband says he doesn't smell it either! I do! I notice that when I apply it, it also dries quickly. I had to buy a spare for my purse! Lol thanks for all the answers, I don't feel crazy now!

I noticed this in the beginning of the first tri. I asked my SO if he could smell it but he said it wasn't as bad as I made it out to be.

Now, I'm dealing with sweaty palms for the first time in my life.

Edit to add: he and also, I just used extra deodorant - applying through out the day and what not. Definitely can't forget to put it on in the mornings anymore and get away with it.
  • The other day I was at an event with some friends and almost passed out when I lifted my arm, I wasn't really sweating, but it smelled so bad! I really HOPE it's more my sense of smell and I didn't smell quite as bad as I thought...I'd like people to still want to hang out with me :(

  • I notice I can smell myself being sweaty all the time and it's gross. But the worst is that I can smell DHs pits ALLLL the time. It's so gross, plus he sleeps with his arm behind his head so I have to wake him up to make him move it. And I can't stand the smell of the deodorant he wears that I picked out anymore either.
  • If no one else smells it thank pregnancy for that heightened sense of smell. But yes I swear tons more on top of the fact I already was a heavy sweater but I don't smell.
  • This has been one of the give always for me that I'm pregnant. I almost always smell stronger than normal, to me anyways. My hubby also says he can't tell, but I'm like how can you not?!?!?!
This time was no exception, and this hot summer in AZ has not helped lol... I still smell myself no matter howuch deodorant, body wash, powder I use lol. Ahhhhh... It does go away, but not for awhile!

I literally just stuck my nose in my armpit to check.

I just showered, so it wasn't even a useful bizarre thing to do.
  • I had to switch my normal deodorant at about 9 weeks because it just didn't seem like it was working anymore. It's so hard to find a new deodorant that I actually like!
  • I used to be so cold at work in the summer and winter I wore a jacket inside all year round (in an office) and now I'm just sweating just sitting there! And I smells so bad! I've always used the same type of deodorant since high school because I liked it and now I need to find something that has more 'cover up' I guess!! I consciously wonder when I run errands at lunch if people can smell me...
  • Definitely smell stronger. It smells like stress sweat. I used to be able to get away with forgetting, but now I have mini sticks of deoterant everywhere. =) I feel like my girl parts smell different, too. DH says he notices a difference, but loves all the extra showers I've been taking (mainly with him!). Haha.
  • Yes, I also switched my deodorant and it seemed to help. I can't wait for fall!
  • I have used the same deodorant for years and have never had issues .. Lately it's been so bad after a few hours!! :-&
  • I smell myself too and have been carrying extra deodorant in my purse. I have to re-apply at least once a day after lunch.

  • I noticed this too! I did switch to aluminum free deodorant a few months before my BFP and didn't notice any extra stinkiness but it's pretty pungent these days.
  • Yep, right there with you. Same thing with my first pregnancy.
