Silly question...Clock in the nursery?

I tried looking through all the nursery pictures that have been shared, but it was hard to tell.  Do you have a clock in your nursery?  If so, alarm clock or wall clock?  I just realized that we don't have one in there and I can't decide if I should buy one or not.  Part of me thinks I'll want to know the time, and part of me thinks that will just make the 2am feedings worse!

Re: Silly question...Clock in the nursery?

  • I don't have one, but it may not be a bad idea to keep up with feeding times.

  • I didn't have one. I had baby in my room for the first 8 weeks so I didn't need one, and when we moved her to her crib she was sleeping through the night at that point and it didn't matter.
  • I like a clock in there especially early on, I like to see how long the nursing session lasts.

  • We don't have one in ours but I found myself nursing in our room anyways (I got too lonely in the nursery). You'll probably have your phone with you so you could keep track of time if you didn't want to put a clock in there?

  • A clock would be really handy. Maybe one you could press a button to light up the time, so if you don't want to know, you don't have to look?? I have never managed to get one in my DD's room even though I would like to have one in there. Even if it's just to make DH feel guilty about the exact amount of time you spent up in the night ;)
  • I have a clock, did for the first 2 as well, but like PP said, you could just use your phone.

Never had one, and when I was nursing I almost always had my phone anyway.
  • I plan on using my phone so I can bump and nurse :)

  • I only use my phone--I might use a clock but only if I found a cute one that matched the decor.  Otherwise, I can't imagine I'll start using a clock since I don't already.

Sometimes it's nice to see a clock especially when you think baby has passed out on the boob/bottle and you want to go to back bed. You should eventually figure out how long it takes your LO to be full up. I don't think you need a clock on day one, but I would recommend in the near future.
  • I do have one in there, only because it's an extra, and was just lying around not being used. It's a digital clock that plugs into the wall. I have it sitting on a small stand beside the glider in the nursery. I plan to use an app on my phone to track feedings so I'll have that with me too.

With our first we had a wall clock and a lamp that displayed time, which was great at night! When I got up at night like a zombie at least I had some sense of what time it is. With the second one it was literally on my to do list to have both again. I think its a personal preference, I just like to know what time it is to learn baby's rythym and schedule.

  • I recommend a clock! I have a digital 1 and it's helped me every night so far! I can time her feedings, my pumping, etc.
  • Never even thought about that. When we were rearranging rooms to set up nursery, DH found and old Sponge Bob face clock. He put it in there, I left it there and just haven't paid much attention to it since. It needs batteries if I'm going to use it, but I have a fitbit on all the time so I don't really need it. Plus he will be in my room in the cradle as long as he feeds at night.
  • We had one with DD just because it came as part of the nursery decor that we bought. I honestly never really looked at it. I always had my phone on my so I used that to time feeding a and have a sense of what time it was.
  • I have a huge wall clock, and it really came in handy early on when I would go into the nursery to feed soasnot to disturb the husband while he slept. I still had my phone on me, but it was easy on the eyes if I didn't feel like using my phone at that moment (IE if I was reading on my Kindle instead of bumping or fbing).
  • I've never had one in the nursery as I don't like to be reminded I'm up yet again and it's only midnight.
  • Nope but I'll be feeding in the next room so I don't need it for that reason.
  • Nope. I will have my phone and will be in a different room.
