Possible Follicle, Considering Ovidrel

I had an ultrasound today (following my 3rd round of clomid, 200mg, starting on CD 15) and there appears to be some activity. This is the first time the ultrasound has shown follicular growth since I began clomid in April (I've needed birth control or prometrium to start a period). I almost cried when I found out. The side effects of the clomid were much more noticeable on 200mg, so I felt incredibly relieved that something was happening. I was worried that clomid wasn't going cause ovulation and because my insurance isn't infertility friendly, finances are a huge concern with any treatment beyond clomid.

My doctor recommended another ultra sound on Thursday to track an increase in size and then a shot of ovidrel. Being that my husband travels for work, she'd like to ensure the egg releases while he's home. I'm thinking I'd like it to try it. Does anyone have any input; effectiveness, side effects, etc.?

    The goal of Ovidrel is just to make sure you do ovulate (36hrs after or so). I've taken it 3 times with no side effects. Definitely a good idea (IMO) if you don't ovulate very often- may as well make sure it happens. Good luck!

    I'm glad to hear you didn't have side effects. We're taking my stepson to an amusement park this weekend and I would hate to feel horrible the whole time.

    I've taken Ovidrel twice, with no real side effects! I'm a believer in it working for sure!!

    Is it very painful to administer? Shots typically aren't painful for me, but I'm not so fantastic with stabbing myself.

    Not at all. Piece of cake. Literally maybe a pinch when you put it in but that's it. My husband did it for me.

    yes, take ovidrel!!!  with all of my clomid cycles without ovidrel, i never ovulated :(  WITH ovidrel, i ovulated!  good luck!!

    I do ovulate but with ovidrel you know exactly when you will ovulate.

    Thank you for the input! My nurse called in the prescription today and apparently, it might be covered. She is currently getting pre-authorization. I was originally told by my insurance company that no injections would be covered if they weren't administered in the office, so it was a pleasant surprise.
