It finally happened

I finally had a breakdown. I took a shower and was carrying on with my routine of rubbing coconut oil all over and I look down and see the beginning stages of stretch marks on my belly. At least they are very light. I freak out and do the inspection. I go into the kitchen to prepare my husbands lunch for tomorrow and tell him about my new discovery. He asks to see. I show him and he says "yup, those are them!" Instant tears and sobbing. I tell him I'm ruined and ugly. He lets me be and leaves for a minute and comes back with ice cream. Such a sweet gesture but I couldn't eat much. I can't help but feel like they are inevitable, but at the same time I'm so upset. I guess I'll be running off to target tomorrow to get some bio oil and continue with my coconut regimen. Damn hormones!

Re: It finally happened

  • I had the same reaction last week. I had gone 30 weeks with none and then all of a sudden saw a few little ones on my lower belly. I say just keep up with your routine and hopefully we can minimize them. Sorry mama, I guess these are the scars of love.

  • I've started to get the red spots on my hips that start them :( I was so happy I wasn't getting any then bam here they come! It's not even fair because no one can tell I'm pregnant! I told someone today I was pregnant and they were shocked I was already 7 months along, they thought I was 3, maybe 4 months... Upping my belly butter and water drinking game!
  • I feel ya! I had some on my hips from puberty and had gotten a few more there, but up until a few days ago had none on my belly. Then bam, two days ago (33 weeks) I noticed them popping up on my lower belly and I wanted to scream, "Nooooo!" I would much rather have them on my hips where I already had them than belly, but of course if it's going to happen it's going to happen. I'll just keep on keepin' on with my coconut oil and hope for the best!
  • I inspect my stomach every morning and night.  I've always had a toned stomach and enjoyed wearing bikinis in the summer.  I got one stretch mark when I was pregnant with my daughter.  It's right above my belly button where it was pierced (I let it close up years before getting pregnant) and it's barely noticeable.  I'm really hoping to avoid them again this time and I lather on the cocoa butter and bio oil every night and cocoa butter though out the day.

I have gained most of my weight in my thighs with this pregnancy and my inner thighs are covered in new purple stretch marks.  I'm not happy about them but at least it's not a super noticeable location.

I'm glad I'm not the only one in this boat. It's hard to see your body change before your eyes. I think pregnancy is beautiful. I just went into it thinking I could have the baby and go right back to how I used to be. I had some unrealistic thoughts going on. I know it won't matter once the baby is here and they do fade. It's still rough in the mean time.
  • Well consider yourself lucky! I got stretch marks almost instantly! It was so strange. I found out I was pregnant at 8 weeks, and by week 11 my stretch marks appeared rapidly. I just noticed today they are getting longer! I'm just embracing this one and hope they will fade. I don't show my stomach off much but this definitely is just another perk! Tiger stripes!
  • It's rough at first but trust me with time you will care less and less about them being there

My stomach is covered in them. Even with using lotions I got a ton while pregnant with DD. I read a thing that said "I earned these tiger stripes". I honestly could care less about them.
  • I remember when I first got stretch marks and I wasn't even pregnant! I was quite upset. However now I am 32 weeks pregnant I haven't gotten anymore and I've only roughly put on 11 pounds. It's all worth it when you have a new life growing inside of you x
  • I had three in each side from my daughter( first born). For my second they were the same ones that stretched again. Now... My third baby... Seems to be the same. The good news is once we get our bodies back they will be baby love reminders... Oh ok stretch marks lol
  • I don't think that stretch marks are a big deal. They are expected with pregnancy. You're body is doing amazing things, so give it a little bit of a break. Love what your body is capable of and except that there will be some changes.

  • I have them from th first and see them keep going i put lotion on but Idk if they help and I drink about 2 2 1/2 gallons of water a day and that's not helping either! So guess I will be covered in them but I will say I will be sporting my 2 piece still!!
  • I totally sympathize...I don't have any on my stomach (yet) but they are slowly creeping onto my boobs. My boobs which I paid $7500 two years ago to get implants in. It makes me SICK that I paid so much money for my boobs only to have them ruined such a short time later. Now they are huge and I'm terrified about how big they're going to be once my milk comes in. Never thought my little A cups would have this problem! :(
  • As I'm laying in bed reading this I had to stop and "inspect" to see if any new have come! Lol! None yet just the silver/white ones from the first 2 kiddos! My button is very close to sticking out which it never did with the others though :(
  • Oh man I don't remember a time without stretch marks that being said most of mine had faded and now I have about 20 yes 20 new ones across my sides and belly....it's inevitable but I earned these stripes! I guess it's okay if my baby wants to nickname me zebra or something :)
  • I have had stretch marks pretty much since I found out.  I have had a really easy pregnancy, so this is really the only rough part of it, but they are all over my stomach.  I know that they will go back down and that we are doing something inredible by carrying a life inside of us.  But sometimes hormones will win!  I don't think that is a crazy thing to cry about, I completely understand!
Keep doing what you're doing and they will shrink before you even know it.
  • hated the smell of bio oil, I have been using mama belly butter- burts bees
