Significant meaning of baby's name?

It can be so stressful coming up with a name for your LO!! We are set on a girl's name (which we are expecting) but if we were to have a boy, we'd be clueless. It took us a while to come up with our name but we both find a deep meaning in what we chose.

Our daughter's name will be Daisy June.

Daisy means "eye of the day" as well as "wholesome" and "energetic". Our message we hope to convey to our daughter is to embrace the eye of every day and never take a single one for granted. We also wanted something not common but something that people could recognize and spell. We also wanted it to be nature inspired.

June is my father's mother's name. She passed away when he was a child from cancer (which is huge in my family). It is also my second middle name.

Anyone else with significant meanings?

My LO's name will mean Brave Champion, Son of the King
  • Our LOs middle name has a meaning to us , his first is Angelo and middle is Ignacio which is my DH grandfathers name who recently passed a little over a year ago . So we're honoring him by passing down his name .
But Angelo also means "messenger of God" or "angel"
  • Vivian is my Grandmother's name and also means life. I am a gardener with 30 rose bushes so her middle name will be Rose.
For my outside children, Everett was DH's grandfather's name and Jude means praise and thankfulness. Isaac means laughter and we laughed our heads off when we found out we were having identical twins and I just knew in that moment that one of them was Isaac. Also after struggling 5 years to conceive, the story of Isaac gave us comfort in the Bible. His middle name is James which is a name on both sides of our families.

  • Ours aren't that deep.

Daughter #1 is Ada after this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aV0Ka-SSEU

Daughter #2 is Cora after...the mother on Downton Abbey?  I don't know.  That is where I got the idea.

  • We chose Greyson Daniel specifically because of the meanings. Greyson means "one of knowledge" and we have chosen Proverbs 2:1-6 as his life verses. Daniel is my husband's middle name and it means "God is my judge". I really want to ensure that we give our children names with meaning bc I grew up as the only one in my family with a name without meaning behind it.
  • We picked DD's name because of the meaning. Lucy means "light" which we loved, but we stumbled upon Brielle which means "of God" and it seemed like it was meant to be. My dad passed away while I was pregnant with her, and she truly has reminded me of the light and grace of God ever since. I believe God knows what our names will be before our parents do, and we feel like hers worked out perfectly.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad!! I really like the name Lucy and the meaning behind it, makes it that much more beautiful!!
  • Chad Thomas (call name Tom).

Chad is my adoptive father's name - he took me away from an abusive situation as a child and has been my biggest supporter/mentor/safe-place ever since.

Thomas is DH's and FIL's middle name.

DH's grandfather, Tom, not Thomas, passed away during this pregnancy and it means a lot for us to honor him in some way.
  • We choose names firstly that are Gaelic and then the meaning comes secondly.

DD #1 is Keela from the Gaelic Cadhla meaning "poetic beauty"

DD#2 will be Ainsley from the Gaelic for "one's own meadow" which we thought is perfect because DH is Wesley which means "from the Western meadow"
  • DH and I chose a boy name and a girl name years before getting pregnant. I can't remember how we chose both names other than we wanted something strong and something that would grow with them.

    LO will be:
God has been gracious; has shown favor + Light giving

  • Our first was named Jordan Wyatt (Jordan is my dads middle name and Wyatt was for my husbands brother who drown when he was 5) Zane Tyler was our second Zane means 'Gods Gracious gift' after almost losing him several times and then he got ran over by a car at 17 months and lived to tell his name def suits him! Tyler is my dads first name. Yep I'm a daddy's girl :P our daughter is Niko Alyse , Niko because we know sooo many people that we had to come up with something most people don't name their girls and when I saw a girl on a show named that I loved it. Alyse because I like that name and spelled that way so she would have her dads initials. This baby is Rhys Declan , Rhys because my husband thinks Rhys Millen is the bomb and has begged from our first baby to name one of our boys that and Declan because I love that name and together his name means 'enthusiastic man of prayer' . His name was going to be Declan Rhys but my husband had an accident while doing high climbing tree work and It made me change my mind because I knew if he had died I would have named baby Rhys so I made my husband incredibly happy when I told him I changed my mind :)
  • DD's middle name is Alyse- mainly because it's my middle and we couldn't think of anything we liked better :P
Don't often see it spelled the same :)
  • My dad wanted to make me Alyssa when I was born but him and my mom compromised and got karyssa.
I've always been a daddy's girl so in honor of him my daughter will be Alyssa. And her middle name is just a name I've always liked, Quinn.
Because her name will be so close to mine we'll be calling her Ally for short
  • My DD's middle name is May, an adaptation of 'Mei' (美) which means 'beautiful' in Mandarin, significant for us because DH and I met in China.

One of the names in the running for DS is also the name of a type of stone, I like the natural feel of it especially as his family name is a word with a natural 'watery' meaning. Both DH and I are environmental scientists and love nature so there's significance for us with that name too.
  • Our name was pulled from the air.  We are naming her Olivia.  The only back story is that since I was high risk at the beginning of my pregnancy we were getting weekly ultrasounds starting at week 4.  My husband made the comment that the first ultrasound photos looked more like a little olive instead of a baby. So after we found out it was a girl the name just sort of stuck.

The middle name will probably be Alessandra.  There is no back story on that one other than we found it in a list of Italian names and my husband fancies his Italian roots. It's just hard to come up with something that sounds good and flows with our last name since i our last name is so "unique."
  • Well, at this rate our baby's name means "Bitter/rebellious Flower"... Guess maybe we should keep searching...
  • We are naming our daughter Karis Jane. Karis is from the Greek word Charis, which means "Grace". Jane means "Gift from God". I have loved the name Karis for so long, I'm so excited to finally get to use it!
  • Well, at this rate our baby's name means "Bitter/rebellious Flower"... Guess maybe we should keep searching...

Don't worry, I'm guessing this is a girl's name because when we first started searching for a meaningful girl name, most of them meant not great things. There are so many meaningful boy Hebrew and Christian boy names and a lot of the female names mean sorrow, mistress, weary, and so on... We quickly realized we probably weren't going to find a name that spiritually fit really well :-w
