When should I start to buy new bras?

So I use to have a really small chest so with that comes smaller bras, but I feel like each week they are getting bigger on me. So I don't want to be buying a bunch of bras to wear for a month and then not fit anymore. So when is it a safe point to invest into some new bras that will hopefully fit for awhile.

Re: When should I start to buy new bras?

  • I couldn't take spilling over so I bit the bullet and bought the next size up even though I'm sure that they will get bigger. I figure that way I'll have a couple in between as they gradually decline- haha! I didn't want to spend a ton on my normal favs from VS so I just went to Target. There were actually some really nice ones on clearance for $8! Good luck!

  • I had to buy new ones.  I have gone from a D to an F.  I'm 4 1/2 months pregnant - so this is RIDIC.

I went to motherhood and got nursing bras I can continue to grow into.  They said they should last till after the baby is born.

They were like $25 each, so not bad as my normal $60 bras.    And were buy 3 get one free.
  • I am a FTM, so I obviously don't have any personal experience with this. I am reading a book now on breastfeeding called, The Complete Book of Breastfeeding. (Lots of good info, written by two MDs... I would recommend it, so far.) It says that at 8 months, you can go ahead and buy nursing bras that will last through breastfeeding because the breasts are around the size they will stay at that time.
I am also probably going to buy a couple cheap in-between bras pretty soon to get me through. The spillage is getting a little out of control, and I'm sure my current bras won't last much longer.

Once the baby comes your boob sizes are going to change all the freaking time. I'm a 32a pre pregnancy and ranged from that to 34 d after. The biggest they got during pregnancy was b.

Either plan to own bras in about every size or get some soft, stretchy nursing bras that can accommodate multiple sizes. My favorite are Bravado but hopefully there's something better because those fall apart somewhat quickly and aren't cheap enough to justify falling apart. Those just come in S M and L though and I always fit in a S or M.
  • You can get some sports bras to help get through pregnancy too. For me, yeah, my boons are getting bigger, but all I needed to do to make my bras more comfortable again was get a band extender. The band had started to dig into my skin. I wear a style that accommodates changing sizes because of the way the cups are shaped. I've battled my weight for a long time and even a few pounds will show a difference in my boobs so I can't afford to buy several sizes of bra to wear from week to week normally, let alone during pregnancy.
  • My doctor told me not to go and spend a ton of money on buying new bras, since my boobs are going to fluctuate so much. I got one new one that has been great for me, but I plan on making that one last as long as I can.

  • Sports bras are my current best friend. I have outgrown all my bras by several cup sizes and I don't want to put a lot of money into new bras that I may only be able to wear for a month or two.
  • I also had a smaller chest, so when I needed a new bra I opted for something a cup size bigger and with very minimum padding. It actually fit as well as a padded bra 2 cup sizes up. It's also bigger coverage. I think it'll buy me a decent amount of time before it's too small. I also went up a band size and that made it much more comfy. I just went to Target. Keep it cheap and simple and you'll be fine.
  • My doctor said that they wouldn't start growing more again until my milk comes in, so I would get one for now and then a couple more for BF at the end of pregnancy.

With DD, I think I got un-padded wireless bras around 7 months. The wires were killing me and digging into my skin. I wore those bras for about 4 months post-pregnancy as well as I was EP.
