Successful second chances at BF??? Please tell me there's hope!

My daughter will be two months old this week. The first time she latched in The hospital she destroyed my nipples. I decided to pump until I was healed. She turned out to be extremely colicky & latching wasn't her thing. I decided to keep pumping but had to supplement with formula because I wasn't producing enough. About 2.5 weeks ago I practically gave up pumping. I switched her formula yet again & she is a happy little baby & actually latched like a pro last night. I pumped an barely produced anything (obviously). Is it really possible to be successful at this given all of these factors??? I really don't want to give up. Please help!

  • Yes it is possible but you will have to work at it. Make sure her latch is good so she doesn't ruin your nipples again. Nurse if she will do it. Then, or if she won't yet, pump after feedings. Every 2 hours. Every 3-4 at night. For a few days. Remember, lots of calories and water, steel cut oats for breakfast, drink gatorade and malt ovaltine /malted milk. Don't stress. If it doesn't work, don't beat yourself up.
