Finally going to TTC

Hi Everyone my name is Chelsea and I am new to The Bump. My husband and I have been married for 2 1/2 years and finally today I took my last BC pill and we are ready to start trying. Any advice?

Re: Finally going to TTC

  • Welcome! Very exciting time for y'all. My advice is to lurk, lurk and lurk some more. The TTC board has some great advice; just search before posting a question and learn the way of the board over there. Also, I highly recommend reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility. We like science on The Bump and it's a great way to learn your cycles.

A lot of the ladies on this board are waiting to begin to TTC, but you are more than welcome to join in anywhere. Good luck!

  • Welcome! I echo the advice above. I also recommend DLing the Fertility Friend app and reading the tutorials.
  • Welcome! I agree with everyone- there's a plethora of info already on the boards. I'm always searching! And then I just started reading TCOYF (Taking Charge of Your Fertility) and I purchased a BBT thermometer and some Wondfo ovulation prediction kits so that I can chart my cycles. We won't start til Decemberish but it's nice to figure out my cycle beforehand!
  • Relax!!!! Have fun!! Try not to obsess!! Easier said than done, but it's more fun to just "let it happen"

We did the "not trying, not preventing" method....it worked right away lol

No need to obsess or worry or track anything unless you're super impatient or unless it's taking a while ;) I knew I was ovulating because I could feel little twinges of pain where my ovaries were, so I guess I cheated a little lol.

    Have fun & good luck!

I totally agree with this. My DH and I tried the "it will happen when it happens" and "not trying but not preventing" The more relaxed about it you are the better. Definitely get a BBT thermometer to start charting your cycles and understand how your body is working. Also, as stated above I think lurking on the boards is a good idea because more than likely someone has had your question before.
