Please see the "Procedure and Testing information thread" Thanks :)

Ladies,

We all have questions about testing and genetics and things of that sort. Would it be helpful to have a thread, specifically about testing, experiences, and possible out comes and resources? It could be stickied to the top of the board. I'm only asking to help reduce the number of repeats and also, because some info isn't on our board and isn't as fruitful on other boards. I'm having some stuff going on personally that I don't mind sharing if it will help educate others in our group, but I wanted to make sure that there is an audience for this first. Ladies please let me know what you think? I think it would be a great and productive way for us to bond, re-meet each other, and educate each other.

Hope this pic makes someone smile:

(UPDATE 1) What are some testing and genetics questions that you ladies may have?  This way we can start putting up information to specifically answer those questions. For example, AFP, that can be confusing. From personal experience I was kinda confused when my OB gave  me partial info on my results. I came on here and other ladies helped me figure out what to look up and what questions I should be asking at my next appointment.

So do any of you ladies have any specifics you'd like addressed?

  • @bumpadmin may you please sticky this to the top of our BMB threads list. We'd like to start a new and on going informational discussion to help one another. Thank you.

  • What is an AFP:
AFP is a substance made in the liver of an unborn baby (fetus). The amount of AFP in the blood of a pregnant woman can help see whether the baby may have such problems as spina bifida and anencephaly
You can find more info on AFP's here:

  • I like this idea. I'm waiting on amino testing that's pretty specific/rare but I feel like there should be a more general discussion for those of us facing potentially scary situations.

This is EXACTLY why I thought of this. I'm dealing with the same thing. Without my mom, aunt and the bump...I'd be a nervous wreck. I've been googling videos on youtube, looking up diagrams and all. But at first I was confused about what my OB told me. So I figured if I was dealing with this, someone else is too, and if we share info we could really help someone
