2nd Trimester

Coworker vent

I'm about tired of my coworker saying I dont need a chair. I am 18 weeks and very petite. I'm having a ton of round ligament pain which sitting down is the only thing that slightly helps. Also, I do have a bump. My other coworker is excited for me and is excited I'm showing a bit. Now the other coworker saying I dont need a chair is always going on about how I have nothing and crap like that. I know she has kids and I almost want to throw a pissed on pregnancy test at her face and tell her pff how my pregnancy isn't the same as hers and she needs to f**k off.

Re: Coworker vent

  • What on earth kind of a job is this? I don't know much about your coworker, but the little I do know makes me want to punch her in the throat a little.

  • I remember going to a meeting in my last pregnancy when I was 6 or 7 months, all the chairs were taken and I ended up leaning against the wall, then I just left because I couldn't stand any longer, I wish I would have actually said can someone give me their chair but I just assumed people would know (I was wrong when I mentioned it later people felt pretty dumb)
  • Just tell her that every pregnancy is different. She may not have needed a chair but you do and that you'd appreciate it if she kept her constant complaints to herself as it is creating an uncomfortable working environment. Say it in a stern voice, and your other coworker can be there for it so the rude 1 can't switch it up behind your back. She might get embarrassed, but she'll look and feel like an ass and most likely stop.

  • Where the heck do you work that they don't let you have a chair?? Like I'm thinking you work on a farm or in fast food or something...

My coworkers have been amazing at always making sure I have somewhere to sit. I appreciate them so much. ❤️
  • I'm also curious about where you work and why she would be complaining about you sitting in a chair.

I like what @Jonesy288 said. Point out that your work gets done and quite frankly it's not her business if you're sitting while you do it, if your boss isn't concerned then nobody else should be either.

YES! It totally isn't her business. If I was a supervisor, I'd tell her to mind her business before this matter escalates. But I can bitchy.

That's nuts! As soon as my coworkers found out I was pregnant (around 18 weeks) they practically threw chairs at me. Trying to get a seat on the subway is another story lol!
  • I work at target. Retail. You would think people wpuld be fine with it but because I am so small people ask me all the time why i get the chair. Mostly people who didnt know i was pregnant but seriously it doesnt matter. It is my business and if i need a chair i need it. It isnt like anyone else is using it and nobody else has a problem who knows except for that one coworker. Now I've been asked to get a doctors note just so i can sit.
  • I am a cashier. Sitting in no way affects my work.
  • Get the note just to shut them up. If they don't comply they can be held liable if something happens to you while your at work.
  • Who has requested the doctor's note?

I think Jonesy's recommendation is fantastic. It may be tough to pull off if you have a personality that is more shy, but that approach is really what is needed.

Sorry that your workplace is so awful.

I find this story to be quite shocking.

Where do you work? I'll do it for you. I'm tired of older ppl getting all huffy and puffy about stuff they didn't get when they were pregnant or something. For her next kid, she can get a chair. Tell her to move on.

  • I'm planning to have my dr. Email me a dr.s not and print it off while im at work. Then not even tell her i have one and just write down everything she says. She is only one step above me. She waches over the cashiers. So basically a nobody in target just like me.
  • I have put my 2 cents in with my Store Manager. She is having a talk with her about commenting negatively on my pregnancy. The Dr.s note okay, but to say i'm not big enough to hurt or i dont need to sit or I dont really have anything is out of line.
