1st ultrasound...worried...trying to stay positive.

I had my 1st ultrasound today. It didn't go as expected necessarily. According to LMP I would be 7w5d. US revealed just a yolk sack. He said that would mean I'm very early 5 to 5.5 weeks. He said the yolk sack looks nice and round and not collapsing as he would normally see in a failing pregnancy. He also said he could see "a little flicker" down in the tissue and that would be a very early heartbeat. He prepared us for the possibility of a miscarriage. I have only had 1 pregnancy before this one and my daughter is now 6. I didn't even have a US until I was almost 16 weeks with her and didn't heart her heartbeat until then so I would have never know there was anything wrong....
I'm just nervous.
Anyone with similar experience?

    If the doc didn't seem worried about an imminent MC I wouldn't worry. He was probably just making sure you were well informed.

    Try to relax, its hard but when you put in an effort to relax it does help a little. I had a u/s at what i thought was 6.5 weeksbut they only saw sac and no heartbeat at all and put me at 5.4w still having strong pregancy symptoms though and feeling confident about scan tomorrow. They quite often adj due dates often quite dramaticly so if the doc wasnt worried then you should try and relax even just a little. I know its easier said then done, ive waited 2 weeks for this repeated u/s but sometimes accepting that there is nothing you can do can help, it has for me. Good luck on your journey xx

    You saw yolk at 5w so this is normal so just relax everything seems fine :) about 10 days you can see the embryo and the heartbeat don't worry :)

    If you weren't temping you can't guarantee your LMP dates are accurate. I went for my ultrasound at what should have been 8w3d LMP but baby only measured 6w5d but there was no concern because I know I ovulate later in my cycle than the stereotypical day 14.

    As PP stated, it can very hard to determine exactly when you ovulated if you were not charting. Hopefully you are just off on tour dates and everything is healthy. I would keep trying to stay as positive as possible and maybe get DH to give you a nice foot massage to help you relax. Sending good thoughts your way. Hugs too.
