2nd Trimester

Insomnia second trimester

Has anyone had the issue of not being able to sleep. I'm 14 weeks almost 15 and I can't sleep at night. I stay up super late and then take a nap during the day and I'm up all night /= :D

Re: Insomnia second trimester

  • YES. It is the worst. On the bright side I'm not waking up to pee as much because I'm not asleep... Last night I even made myself a mug of warm milk before bed to try and make myself sleepier. My husband takes melatonin pills before bed, I will ask my midwife about taking those if this keeps up. I am 14 w 5 d at the moment, and started having insomnia about a week ago, previously I slept like a rock (minus the frequent peeing now due to pregnancy).

  • I've been getting it since 13 weeks and I'm now 19 weeks and it's getting worse :( this is my second and my 17 month old won't nap in the day anymore so I don't get hardly any sleep it's all worth it in the end though even though it's a pain now.
  • I actually went on sleeping pills my last pregnancy, never had insomnia before that or after. Hoping it doesn't happen again! Like the one time in your life you need the most sleep!!!
  • What time of day are you taking your vitamins? Certain ones can cause insomnia. Vitamin C is one of them, among others, so if you're taking any of that you might try switching to taking your vitamins in the morning and see if that helps.
  • I used to have a hard time sleeping and I uses to take melatonin but my doctor told me not to take melatonin. She said I could take tylenol pm or benadryl. Benadryl works great for me but towards the end of my first trimester I was able to sleep without taking anything, I was in heaven! Now I am almost 24 weeks and the whole can't sleep at night it's coming back!
