Freaking Out

edited July 2015 in March 2016 Moms
LMP has me at 7w3d but DH and I calculated that it's probably more like 4w since actual conception. Had brown discharge this morning when I wiped, freaked out a little bit because DH and I went for sex last night but made sure we were super gentle. I was freaking out a little but it went away and I didn't have anything after my shower. Then, this afternoon, I went to pee and wiped and had the brown discharge again. Don't think I'm cramping or anything other than my mind running away with me... We haven't had an OB appointment yet, waiting for health insurance to get sorted before being able to afford to do that. Any thoughts while I try to not worry?

Re: Freaking Out

  • It's most likely nothing. Bright red blood is more of a concern than a little brown spotting. I had it with my first and everything was fine. When it happened, I was able to go in for an ultrasound to check and make sure everything was fine. As soon as you can do that, hopefully you can get peace of mind!

  • Unless you know exactly when you ovulated (charting with opk's, cm and temping) it's hard to be sure exactly how long it has been since conception. I would try not to focus too much on the actual dates until you see your OB. It will probably stress you out more trying to guess. The brown discharge shouldn't be anything to worry about, I think many people experience this. However, all our bodies are much different. It is really hard to not stress but just listen to your body and your instincts. If any more of your symptoms start to feel like big red flags, try to get a hold of a doctor. Otherwise, I think you are in the same boat as the rest of us... Fretful mommies.... And I'm sure this is just the beginning of a lifetime of worries we will have regarding our little ones. Good luck and hugs for you.

Thank you :) Yes, fretful mommies...I've heard that having children is like having your heart walk around outside of your body ...didn't expect it to start just a couple weeks in! :)

Oh, and we're pretty sure on the 4 week conception since we didn't have the opportunity to "be together" before that. :-P But I will definitely be interested to find out more once I get my appt! :) I did put in a request for a Monday or Tuesday appointment this week to find out if it's anything to worry about, but we'll see :)

  • It is very common to bleed a little after sex, I freaked myself out my first pregnancy when this happened and my dr reassured me it was fine. Also, most women bleed a little bit or have brownish discharge during first trimester, it's called implantation bleeding, totally normal! Good luck momma and try not to freak yourself out or read the Internet!!
  • I also had brown discharge at 4 weeks. Even though I was watching for it, it made my heart stop every time I saw it. It lasted a few days. Who knew someone so little could make a person so anxious!
  • I think I'm good. Brown discharge ended yesterday morning and I've had full blown morning sickness yesterday and today (first time vomiting two days in a row...yay me....) DH made me laugh after I cleaned up this morning when he said "if you can still love the thing that's making you feel this bad then a mother's love must be the strongest thing." Hehe. I think I'm calling my little growing one my little bugger for the majority of this pregnancy...at least I will if he/she keeps making me run to the bathroom!
