Diner in Maine

So I'm from New England so I don't know how far the story spread but for those who have heard about the diner owner that yelled at a toddler for "screaming" in her restaurant....what are your thoughts?? The diner owner's side of the story was picked up by the news (might just be local though) and the mother wrote a blog with her side story.

    I thought it was weird that they took the owners side of the story. I think the US is very baby/family unfriendly. In Europe, where I had my first child, everyone, strangers included, were so supportive of me and my baby. No matter where I went I was offered help and never made to feel bad if my child was having a rough time. In this case, the owner would have started to play with my son or even picked him up, or offered him a sweet. Come on, let's be more humane!

    I sided with the owner until I read the customers blog and saw through other mean fb posts the owner left. I think both sides could have handled themselves better but ultimately it made the owner look so unprofessional and rude.

    Side note: I also felt comfortable breast-feeding anywhere! I don't feel that way here, by a long shot!

    I agree with pp, both parties could have handled it better. Not sure a stranger should ever yell at a toddler like that, I mean the kid was having a hard time of it anyway. But if it were my kid, I think I'd call the restaurant trip a dud and take the kid outside or just wrap it up. Sounds like they let it go a little long. But why did the owner make such a big deal about them ordering pancakes? I found that odd. Think she made herself look totally unprofessional. If I ever happen to visit that area in the near future, I'll probably steer clear of that place!

    Anyone ever yells at my child and that will be the last thing they do. That being said I would have left the restaurant to calm my child & not let it go on for that long.
