Trouble TTC

Blood test shows ovulation. When to test?

hey ladies,

Just done round 3 of clomid and my day 21 blood test showed I had ovulated (this is the first time in a whole year!)

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I'm unsure when would be most accurate to take a pregnancy test as my cycle has NEVER been this short (after round 2 of clomid it was 61 days long!)

Thanks
x

Re: Blood test shows ovulation. When to test?

  • Can your doctor do a blood test for you to tell if your pregnant or not?

  • @kristylang when I asked if I should have a day 28 blood test she said that she wouldn't bother. So I presume it's not usually done (I'm in the UK).
  • Hi there, I'm doing clomid right now too. My clinic says to test on day 35 if you haven't had a period after ovulation has been confirmed by bloodwork.
  • Thanks @graphicgranite that really helps. It also sounds familiar! I'm just being really impatient as it's the first time I've actually ovulated in a whole year!! x
  • Thought I'd update you ladies.
Didn't need to test day 35 as AF arrived with a vengeance on day 30. I was even up part of the night as the pain was so intense. Here's hoping round 4 will be more successful.....
  • Sorry to hear that! Hope next round works out for you!
  • Thanks @graphicgranite
I'm going to call my GP on Monday though as it's very strange this cycle.
Had 3 days very light spotting before chronic pain woke me up, one day quite heavy (presumed AF) with bad pain, today (technically day 2) no pain and much much lighter.
Took a test in case, but still negative. However, I've felt very different this cycle, stronger effects & today hot flushes.
I've been putting it all down to hormones but I'm just not convinced!

Man, it's such a crazy rollercoaster!

Awww, so sorry Smiley. We know it's rough with all the emotional rollar coaster, hang in there!
  • It's possible your body is freaking out from the ovulation. When my body started ovulating after a long hiatus, I had the weirdest periods ever. Intense cramping on and off the entire time, the worst PMS ever (I have never had PMS), sensitive to smells and food, super light flow. I spent an entire day sobbing because I was so depressed for no reason. It scared the shit out of me and my husband was convinced I was mad at him which made me cry even more. I called my RE and told her what was going on and she said my body is getting used to ovulating again and it should get easier to deal with each cycle.

Good luck! I know how tough it is. I hope your next cycle is the one ;)
  • And CONGRATS on ovulating!!!!!! This is a huge thing :D
  • @CopperLane
You have just made my day! You've hit the nail on the head!!
It's exactly that- I seemed to have turned into some crazy woman with the strongest symptoms of everything!!

Spoke to GP today, who has said to stop taking the clomid this month and to repeat a test in two weeks. Trying not to get my hopes up!

    Thanks xx
  • You should also ask about Femara. My RE wants to see me on Femara instead of Clomid because it's supposed to be less crazy lady inducing than Clomid.

Find something fun to do to help pass the time! I'm working on a scrapbook and a quilt (nothing baby related) to help occupy my mind from going all nutso while waiting. I garden after work and sometimes won't come in until the sun goes down (best therapy ever). The husband travels a lot for work and I am waiting to start treatments until he's in town. Soo this month is a total waiting game for me.

I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!!
  • That must be hard @CopperLane having your hubby away a lot.
I knit & also enjoy reading & I don't get all that much spare time (I'm a nanny)! However, due to my job I'm always surrounded by children, babies & pregnant women! Lol
  • It's tough having him gone with the timing but other than that it's kind of nice getting the house to myself. We just bought a house so I get to decorate or rearrange it how I want without him butting in.

I'd have the worst ever baby fever if I was a nanny!!!! Knitting is one of the best hobbies ever, it's really easy to get lost in and relieve stress.
  • Sometimes it makes it really tough, other days it reminds me of the pros of being childless!

Yes, being able to do the house as you want would be a massive pro (we're renting, so we can't really put our own stamp on it as such). xx
