for the past couple of weeks I have been tossing and turning at night because I wake up every 30 min to change sides of to bring the blood flow back into my arms.... Is this normal? Btw I'm 27 weeks. First baby!
I had this happen but earlier in pregnancy. Doctor said it wasn't anything to worry about and would go away eventually if not then once baby is born. Bought a brace for the hand/arm that was worse off and they helped a ton. It has since gone away luckily.
YES! I have just recently started experiencing what appears to be carpal tunnel syndrome at night while I am asleep. I absolutely have to lay on my right side or left side. Whichever side I am on, that hand/wrist will go numb/tingly. I hate it! I would say this started around 26wks for me. I haven't been able to do anything about it yet. I try to not bend my arms at all while sleeping, but that is really difficult to do. I have a "preggy pillow" that I snuggle each night. Last night I ditched the preggy pillow and decided to just snuggle my husband... bad choice! Not only did my hands go numb, I woke up with sore hips and a lower backache! Ugh! The 3rd trimester woes have begun....
My only advice is to use less pillow behind your head and try to keep your arms and wrists straight while sleeping... I've found this nearly impossible to do though!
I'm going to say yes it's normal as long as the numbness goes away when you take the pressure off the arm. Happens to me it's pretty annoying. But I'm not sleeping anyway. What is sleep? Sounds like a blast.
I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel in both wrists. Picked up braces about a week ago and they've helped a lot with the pain. However, the fingers (not pinky) on my right hand are still tingly.....constantly....so annoying. It's definitely worth trying braces. Just make sure they keep your wrist straight.
I HIGHLY recommend finding a good chiropractor who regularly treats women who are expecting. My last pregnancy I had BAD sciatica (thank you child #2) and the chiro is the biggest reason I was able to sleep!

I second the chiropractor option as well.
