Implantation Dip

did some lurking and read some opposing comments on the topic. Also, read some very different things online. Is there any truth to an implantation dip or is it a myth? I am 7DPO and had a major drop in temp this morning, well below cover line. Not symptom spotting just curious as I am still new to charting and trying to learn more about the process.

I've only been temping for two months so far so I am still learning my overall pattern. If I have a big dip around this time, could that be a pattern for my body that each month I may have a big dip around 7DPO?

I'm not hitting or asking if I'm pregnant either lol. I have learned after several months that just leads to disappointments

As Everycol0r said. Maybe, maybe not. You won't know until you get a BFP. You coulda been extra cold this morning or AF could be getting ready to show.

We do always sleep with the AC on lol. I shouldn't be getting my period though for another 7 days..luteal phase should typically stay the same for you right? Mine has been 14 days..is it likely to change?

If you've only been temping for 2 months it's fair to say you might not know your norm yet.

Oo okay gotcha. I'm starting to get used to it and I find the disappointment of seeing that huge drop in temp before AF a lot more bearable than the BFN lol

The study FF did on this is pretty interesting:

To sum up, they studied over 100,000 charts. Out of all of those charts, they identified 11% with a temp dip at about 7DPO that did NOT end in pregnancy, 23% with a temp dip at about 7DPO that DID result in pregnancy.

That tells you a few things: It happens to people that aren't pregnant, sometimes it happens to people that are. It doesn't happen to everyone who is pregnant, but if it DOES happen to you, you're twice as likely to be pregnant than not, statistically speaking.

So it doesn't really tell you much, but I'd be pretty excited if I saw a dip 7DPO, because of the whole twice as likely thing. I also wouldn't be disappointed if I didn't see it, either.

That's the exact article I read actually, which j was surprised by because I read another article with a study done and basically it said dips mid cycle are more likely for women who are not pregnant. It's all very interesting.

They says 11% with that temp dip are not pregnant and 23% with that dip end up pregnant...what about the other 66%? I guess maybe that percentage had no mid cycle dip?

Yes, those would be the charts that had no 7DPO dip. So that means the majority of people don't get them on way or the other.

Edit: Can you link the other study you read? I'm curious.

That doesn't really look like an implantation dip anyway. Your post-O temps are going up and down anyway. You've had several other dips when it would be too early for implantation.
I am attaching a chart where I think I maybe had an implantation dip and a bfp.

Here's my chart with an implantation dip, from when I got my BFP with DS. I love this chart.

(ETA - it's the Sept 2013 chart, not July 2015, obviously).

I don't want to argue but I'm unsure of how that could be an implantation dip - doesn't it take a few days after implantation for the HCG to rise enough to turn a test? I mean, maybe this could happen but it cuts it close.

@malibu45 - what happened sat/sunday that the temps are off? Have you taken any other OPKs?

Yeah my daughter had been waking slightly earlier those days from teething so the temps are off those days. I have not taken a pregnant test I am only 7DPO..I would never take one thAt early

I got the dip in the morning and the test did not turn positive until the evening. I am not sure if it is an implantation dip. I am just saying that is what it would look like. Not like the up and down that the OP already had in her post-o temps.

Yes. I mean that you have lots of dips in your chart and I don't think this one is related to implantation because that is what your temps are tending to do anyway.

there are lots of charts on FF with 8 dpo if you search. It all depends on how fast implantation takes place. But I am not entirely sure whether I was 8 DPO or 9 DPO. I missed a few temps at the beginning of the cycle and it puts me at eight or nine depending on which interpretation method I used

I get a dip around the same time every cycle and I've never been pregnant. Sometimes it's just a dip in the same category as spotting or symptoms. You can't tell before you get your BFP that it's anything.
