I've had mild heartburn on and off for the last month or so. Today I woke up and was in so much pain I was nearly to the point of tears. I took tums but threw them up not long after. I've tried crackers, maalox, tums, rolaids, but nothing has helped today. I even tried some apple cider vinegar, but that was a terrible idea. I haven't been able to keep anything down all day. Each time I throw up it just makes the pain worse. I have never experienced anything like this. I plan on calling the doc tomorrow, but for tonight, what do you ladies do for relief??
Re: Sudden severe heartburn. Help me! *update* gallbladder question
As a prescription my doctor has me taking protonix. I've tried everything else on the market and this has worked the best for me. It can also help with healing the esophageal damage.
I hope you can find some relief. Maybe someone else can offer more suggestions.
Added- if you can stand it, I find sucking on a tums is sometimes more helpful than chewing and swallowing it.
*Added- You may start having more trouble as the baby grows and pushes up more on your stomach.
I never thought about it being a gallbladder issue. I actually am concerned about that, as my sister, aunt, and grandma all had to have theirs removed after giving birth. I had a pain in my right side yesterday just under my ribs, but I thought it was just a stitch in my side.
When you had gallbladder pain, did you have trouble taking a deep breath?
