As of right now.. (And I just had my appointment yesterday at 17+1) I have gained about 10 lbs. About a month before I got pregnant I only weighed 110 lbs and then I started getting my appetite back, so at my very first appointment I was just under 120 lbs and I am now 131 lbs. Every woman is different. (:
I'll be 17 weeks tomorrow and I lost five pounds first trimester then gained like 11 pounds now but I've been constant for my few doctors appointments. Idk my average weight gain for this pregnancy I'm gonna ask because I don't want to gain too much weight seeing as to how biscuits and potatoes are my best friends.
At my last appointment, which was 2 weeks ago I had gained 3 lbs. That being said, from my first weight at 7 weeks to my appt at 11 I had lost a lb, so I guess I really have gained 4 total.
16+4, I've gained 3 pounds, though it looks like a lot more TBH. I hope the point of this thread isn't for us to compare ourselves to eachother, as a PP said, everyone IS different. My best friend who is naturally very slender put on maybe 10 pounds up until the last trimester then made up for lost time those last couple of months. I've just kind of accepted the change in physique for the time being, and if anything I was a little relieved to get out of the "beach bod" craze this year
i have not been monitoring it too closely, but if i were to guess... ive gained about 5 pounds. if not, a little less. Though i am just now noticing a little "Bumpage" action.
I'm up about 5lbs also at 16+4. But I've been eating pretty crapy and I know that has contributed to it. I only gained 10 lbs total with my last pregnancy.
16w6d here. The last time I weighed myself prepregnancy was right after finishing a healthy habits challenge at work where I lost nearly 20lbs. From that point (in February) until now, I have gained 4lbs. From the first weigh during pregnancy at about 8 weeks (don't know why I waited so long), I've stayed the same, no up or down. So it's very different for everyone.
I've gained about 14 lbs! This is my 3rd baby and I gained 40 - 50 lbs with my first two as well. I started off slightly underweight for my height so the doctor isn't concerned. I also don't get morning sickness or food aversions at all, and don't eat too much more than normal.. My body just packs on the pounds when I'm pregnant. Doesn't help that I'm also still pretty bloated.
Wow I'm feeling kinda like a fatty I've gained 11 so far and I'm almost 17 weeks... but my first trimester I was on strict no exercise which is totally abnormal for me. I hope I don't get massive.. haha!
Everyone is going to be different. My dr likes to see 5-10 before 20 weeks.
This is a helpful benchmark. I have gained 3.8, I'm 14+5, but I am on super high doses of iron for anemia and am suffering horrible constipation so I think that accounts for about .5-1 pound of that weight gain.
It really has nothing to do with what others gain. Everyone gains differently and a lot depends on your specific fitness level and body type. Comparing weight is pretty pointless. Just eat mostly good stuff, exercise if you can, and don't stress too much. You'll have plenty of time to get back in shape later, even if it takes you a year and a half (like it did me!).
DD I started at 103 and ended at 131. She was 5lb11oz at birth. I went back down to 103 within three weeks. I quit smoking and gained up to 122lbs and went up four pant sizes. :P
So with this pregnancy I started at 122. I lost down to 117 during the first trimester. I went back for my 14wk appt and I was up to 118. I go back in another two weeks to see where it goes.
Outside of the whole making a baby part and feeling them move, I think that tracking the weight gain is one of the better parts of pregnancy. I think it is so funny. I mean, it's only temporary, so why not laugh and enjoy?
Haha thank you ladies for such good responses. I know every pregnancy is different and no one expects you to be in shape during this time. The thing that keeps worrying me is that I lost 30 pounds before getting pregnant and now it's coming back. But for a good reason so, fingers crossed to loose the weight and get back in shape.
I started off relatively small (just had completed a cleanse which I give FULL credit - besides the obvious - in my getting pregnant). I found out that I was pregnant and stopped running five miles a day and started eating "normal". I have gained 12 pounds and I am 15 plus four. I am not too too concerned about it. I am more concerned about a healthy baby, but I have been watching the scale just to stay aware. My mom gained 60 pounds with me and she said it was because she thought that being pregnant gave her a license to eat anything!! I eat healthy and when I am hungry.
As many pointed out, ideal weight gain depends on your pre-pregnancy weight and your height, among other factors. Here are two tools that I found useful, they help calculate an ideal average weight gain week by week based on height and previous weight:
My Dr told me that his wife ate healthy with her first pregnancy and a lot of junk food with the second, somehow still gained more with the healthier lifestyle. It is true that ALL women gain differently with each and every pregnancy.
I felt somewhat discouraged going into my last appt because I knew I had gained 13 pounds total, I have been logging each and everything that I eat PLUS logging my daily activity (being more than 30 min per day). My Dr was very pleased with my weight gain and told me that at 17w4d I was doing great and to keep it up. Listen to your Dr!
Ugh you all make me feel like a total fatty! I have you all beat, I'm 17 weeks and up 20 lbs. :-O I gained over 50 with DS and lost it all PLUS another 10lbs post partum so I'm hoping that the same thing happens this time around....
I have lost, but I'm a plus size to begin with and still getting sick at 17 weeks at least once a week. My stats are all out of wack though. We are working on my blood pressure and blood sugar. I'm not too concerned with weigh just yet as long as the kiddos are growing in there. Dr doesn't seem too worried about my weight right now either. We just want to get all the of us safely to 37 weeks +.
I haven't kept track of my weight gain, to be honest (Although I know I have gained weight). I'm guessing in the neighborhood of 10 lbs. I'll find out at my next appointment where I stand, since I'm curious. I did ask my doctor at my last appointment if I was doing ok as far as weight gain goes and she told me I was. Until she tells me I'm gaining too much weight I will try not to worry about it.
I'm 17 weeks and i lost 20lbs in the first trimester and have only gained 2 1/2lbs back. Hopefully it stays this steady cuz i dont wanna gain 60lbs like i did with my son!
Apps can give you guidance but are by no means a definite. Every pregnancy is different. Don't focus on the "should". Your doctor will tell you if they are worried otherwise do the best you can
Last week at 17w I was up 15 lbs. I cried when the dr told me. I lost 4 lbs initiy but then out that back on + 11. I'm on a highly regulated diet for diabetes and I'm on top of managing all of that well and also working out daily for at least 45 minutes...so the numbers on the scale undid me even though dr said it was perfectly Normal given that my a1c is still under 5.0.
Everyone is different but I'll tell you right now, I sobbed at the idea that I was already up 15lbs.
Re: Ladies in 17th week I have a question
DD 12/20/99, DS 12/14/12, M/C 9/2014, M/C 1/2015
So with this pregnancy I started at 122. I lost down to 117 during the first trimester. I went back for my 14wk appt and I was up to 118. I go back in another two weeks to see where it goes.

5 -8 by now. Good luck and like everyone said listen to your doctor
