Belly grumbling

I'm 13 1/2 weeks and I'm eating breakfast, lunch and dinner, like I normally do ..but recently my belly kept grumbling and people keep asking if I'm starving myself. I'm eating plenty and I'm a FTM so not really sure what to expect with pregnancy, is his normal?

    I have the same thing. My stomach feels empty sometimes after I eat a full meal. I just let myself eat whenever I feel hungry and make sure I have good nutritious foods around so I'm putting good stuff in my body (most of the time!)

  • My doctors said to eat 5 smaller meals instead of eating 3 larger ones. This helps a lot and I don't find myself getting hungry.

  • I plan healthier snacks into my day. I actually started tracking what I eat to make sure I'm getting the right vitamins and enough protein. I have found even though I thought I was eating a ton, I'm still 300-400 calories under the recommended calories for my height/activity/trimester. I think I've just spent so much of my life trying to stay a certain weight and restricting my calories that now just eating to maintain my weight / eat enough for the baby seems like a lot.

    @Jrouge12 how are you tracking what you're eating? I'd love to use an app as a guideline or checklist for my food, as I keep losing weight and am now 14 weeks along!
  • It's normal. When I first got pregnant, I googled every little symptom, including tummy grumbling. Even if you aren't feeling hungry, you'll hear little gurgles and grumbles every so often. I'm not sure how it caused though.
  • I could eat a bowl of pasta the size of my head and still be starving after! I try to fill up with fluids as much as possible, and eat little snacks throughout the day, and it seems to MOSTLY work during the day, but I find after 6pm all bets are off and I am just RAVENOUS and want all the carbs on the planet and nothing satiates me! I still haven't gained any weight at 13w, so I'm going to guess I'm either doing fine or even not eating enough still...but I literally eat every single time I'm hungry (I'm at home most days this summer so I have flexibility in my schedule to stop and eat whenever I rumble), so I really can't imagine eating anything MORE!

  • @jencro I am just using the same app I used before I was pregnant. It's myfitnesspal. It's free and you can set it to gain weight too or just customize the calories you want to eat daily. I also upped my protein goal in the app. I use it exclusively on my phone so it's really convenient.
