Yes, hubby and I both got one. It's recommended so that the antibodies given to you are also passed to the baby in utero. You don't know that everyone s/he comes into contact with has been vaccinated so it's important to give her/him some protection.
DH got his yesterday. I'll get mine next week hopefully

Baby Will born 8/18. He's perfect.
Yes several weeks ago. Whooping cough can easily kill an infant. Your husband and anyone else that will be around the baby a lot should make sure to get theirs too.
I find it interesting that your doctor is recommending it, but what's really going to get you on board are the recommendations of Internet strangers....
I would do research on it but I would personally recommend it. I was sore for several days after but I felt it was dsf important. My husband and mother also are getting one. Whooping cough can be very fatal to little ones.
Thanks for the input. I plan on getting it on Monday. I was just a little bit nervous after talking to others and they said their doctor told them to wait until after the baby was born. I was just curious about what others have been told by their doctors.
I'm waiting to get mine after she's born. They'll do it in the hospital within the first 24 hours of delivery. That was my preference and my midwife was on board.
There is a time frame they recommend getting it while you are pregnant (i think it's like 27-37 weeks??) and it will pass on some of the protection to your unborn baby. This should help them until they are old enough to get it on their own. This is why many doctors will recommend you get it while you are pregnant.
For those who have been recommended to get tdap after delivery, what is the reason your doctor gave you to wait? ...considering it takes away from any direct benefit your baby would otherwise have in antibodies. :-??
Yes, please do get it. It will transfer some of that immunity to your lil' one and in this day & age of folks who never get immunizations it's probably the kindest thing you can do to boost LO's immunity since they won't be able to get DTAP until at least 6 months.

I'm more hesitant about the flu shot because I hate when my body adjusts to the vaccine.
