My doctor has recommend that I get the tdap shot while pregnant. Has anyone gotten their shot yet?

  • Yes. Get it.
  • I did this time. It wasn't required for my 2007 or 2011 pregnancies.
  • Yes, hubby and I both got one. It's recommended so that the antibodies given to you are also passed to the baby in utero. You don't know that everyone s/he comes into contact with has been vaccinated so it's important to give her/him some protection.
  • My husband and I both got one, as did my parents because they live nearby and will be around the baby a lot in the first few weeks.
  • Yep, always have, never had any problems. My doc warned me it could be painful, but it was only a little stiff for a day. Not a big deal.
  • Yes. Both DH and I got the shot
  • Yes, get it! It is for your baby's protection.
  • DH got his yesterday. I'll get mine next week hopefully

  • Yes! 100% yes. Definitely yes.

Whooping Cough can be fatal to infants. This will help protect them.

  • Yes you and your SO or anyone else spending a lot of time with the baby will need it.
  • Yes several weeks ago. Whooping cough can easily kill an infant. Your husband and anyone else that will be around the baby a lot should make sure to get theirs too.

  • I would do research on it but I would personally recommend it. I was sore for several days after but I felt it was dsf important. My husband and mother also are getting one. Whooping cough can be very fatal to little ones.
  • Thanks for the input. I plan on getting it on Monday. I was just a little bit nervous after talking to others and they said their doctor told them to wait until after the baby was born. I was just curious about what others have been told by their doctors.
  • My husband and I both got ours when I was about 27 weeks
  • I'm waiting to get mine after she's born. They'll do it in the hospital within the first 24 hours of delivery. That was my preference and my midwife was on board.
  • There is a time frame they recommend getting it while you are pregnant (i think it's like 27-37 weeks??) and it will pass on some of the protection to your unborn baby.  This should help them until they are old enough to get it on their own.  This is why many doctors will recommend you get it while you are pregnant.

Yes you should, though be warned it hurts like a ...... but it's totally worth it.
  • For those who have been recommended to get tdap after delivery, what is the reason your doctor gave you to wait? ...considering it takes away from any direct benefit your baby would otherwise have in antibodies. :-??
  • Yup, I got mine at 35 weeks.

Yes I got mine at 35 weeks also.
I'm more hesitant about the flu shot because I hate when my body adjusts to the vaccine. :(
  • Yes, please do get it. It will transfer some of that immunity to your lil' one and in this day & age of folks who never get immunizations it's probably the kindest thing you can do to boost LO's immunity since they won't be able to get DTAP until at least 6 months.
