Breech 36+4

I went to the doctors yesterday knowing that I was seeing someone new since my doctor went on vacation. I was surprised to find out that I would get an ultrasound to make sure baby was head down since we didn't have that done with our first.

Of course she wasn't! Doctor starts looking for the head towards the bottom and was saying that she wasn't seeing anything and after a few seconds I was like, "well I've been poking something large and rounded up here by my ribs." I figured it was her butt but as soon as she brought the wand over the screen showed baby face.

The words 'breech' and 'c-section' were not ones I expected to hear. The best part is she's not my regular doctor and I had decided to go two weeks between appointments and just go the week after to see my regular OB. I can't wait until she gets back (I'll be 38 + 5) so I'm stuck with the sub for this.

First baby was stubborn about coming out, looks like this one will be stubborn about getting ready!

I really just wanted to complain - I've been doing some research on breech babies and CSV etc and while not ideal I'll deal when it gets down to that. I'll call today and make another appointment but for this weekend I'm going on a trip with my mom, sis, and daughter and I'm not going to worry about it until Monday.

Re: Breech 36+4

  • I am totally in the same boat. My doc is out of the office till sept. Now due to an injured hand. I went and saw a LPN last week and found out baby was breech. I saw a new doc today turns out baby is frank breech facing kinda sideways. I am scheduled for a version tomorrow but I am kinda freaking out. I know there are slight risks and would hate to end up with an emergency c section rather than planned. Regardless this is all really disappointing cause I was planning an all natural drug free birth. Version is my last hope for that. This is my first baby and I will be 38 weeks on monday. I hope the version attempt is worth it.

I have tried accupuncture the breech tilt and some other yoga poses and none have helped yet. We will see how it goes. Will you attempt a version?

  • My first turned on her own right at 39 weeks. Of course she started head down and turned breech. Little brat. My point being that it's not too late for LO to make a flip! GL!
  • I'm 36+5, and breech as well. I'm getting an ultrasound next week so see what our options are but my doctor told me she's into turning babies and will do a c-section only if it's really necessary. Hopefully when your regular doctor gets back things will look better.
  • My baby won't stay still, I've had to move her down with ice on her head while doing the downward dog pose and totally relaxing my stomach muscles twice now. Did it yesterday again at 35w2d. Stay down there baby!! I've heard that 'hot stick' on the feet thing is more successful and safer than a version- give it or the ice trick a try!

  • i swear my baby does a 360 every day. HIs head is down now, i can feel it, and i can feel his butt in my sternum area, but i swaer somedays i feel him doing a complete flip, i find his feet on the other side, but then i wake up the next morning and he's back in position. Moral of the story, there's still hope!
