Morning sickness in full swing

Good morning MTB. My MS starting hiting in full force (at least I hope it doesn't get any worse) yesterday afternoon. It lasted basically all day and started again today. I work 10 hours a day M-F. Taking off is not an option, unfortunately. I can only eat soup broth, bread, and crackers. The thought of anything else competely turns my stomach. Please help. I am miserable and I'm worried my little Tator isn't getting the nutrients for growing. I like prenatals and DHA.

Re: Morning sickness in full swing

  • As long as you keep taking your prenatals (and can keep them down) I wouldn't worry about it too much. Eat what you can, when you can.......the first trimester is all about survival.

Now if you are constantly throwing up and can't keep ANYTHING down.......call your doctor. They should be able to help.

  • Talk to your OB, there are some medications that are safe to help with nausea. But like Spark said, it's mostly about getting through it right now. Eat what you can and take prenatals, tator will be fine.

I threw up the entire time with DD, nothing helped, and she was totally fine
  • My MS hit big time a couple days ago too. I'm in the same boat. My OB prescribed me medication but I don't want to take it unless I HAVE to. I've tried to eat a cracker here and there when I can. I try really hard to keep any kind of fluids down. Try apple sauce. I know it sounds gross but it may help you a little! So sorry! Hope you feel better!
  • My MS started around 2 weeks ago and i have bad and worse days. I had a whole weekend when i couldn't keep anything down! So the doctor gave me Zofran and its been working a treat.
I didn't want to take drugs, but to get through a working day without vomiting is amazing.

I also find carbs do we well - pasta, bread, brown rice and potatoes.

The doctor also said not to worry about the baby, it will take all it needs from you (even if you have little to give)
Keep your head up, you can survive this!
  • MS sucks. There's no question about it! I am in the same boat as you, but I know if I don't eat, my MS will be way worse so I just force food down. try to find bland foods that are easy to digest. Toast, cheese and crackers, pasta. It's not the healthiest, but it works.

I also keep a slice of bread on my nightstand in a ziplock. I always eat half of a piece before I get out of bed...it seems to help a little!
