I was quite excited for our bit of board drama (dramatic for O15 standards) and resulting gif parties this week. I also rarely see the users labeled as mean girls as actually being mean. Perhaps it's my family's sarcastic brand of humor, but I appreciate a little snark. I know, the hormones and everything, but really some of us could stand to laugh at ourselves a little more.
I was shocked when i was called out for apologizing in case i came off as rude. Like, for real? But i agree it became fun and gifs are the best.
I think newborns are ugly; all of them. With that, my biggest fear of seeing my baby for the first time is thinking they are ugly and not connecting right away. I know I am rediculous for this fear as I loved my son even more after he was born than I did while I was pregnant with him. He was cleaned up the first time I saw him though, so I think that is why this fear came back.
When my first son was born I was in total awe. I thought he was the most beautiful thing in the world. When he was a year old DH and I were looking back at his newborn pictures and he said, "Ok so he totally looked like an alien". He did. Plain and simple. I agreed with him but when we saw him he didn't look like an alien at all. Newborns aren't adorable at birth. But they are adorable because they are yours.

Omg nooo! I love newborns so much. They're just so fresh and basic i just want to give them all the love. My babies always go right on my chest so I've never even held over cleaned up until hours later.
Oh lord I was an ugly baby. I was fat and had all this hair sticking up every where. I was reading my baby book the other day and saw my mom put in there that people's first reactions were to say I was cute! Liars! All of them! I was a pretty cute kid after growing out of that baby phase! I'm hoping this baby looks like my hubby but with all of the heart burn I'm afraid he's going to come out looking like...

HHHAAAAA hahahhahahha lmao...yes yes yes i agree dont get me wrong DS is the love of my life hes so handsome ....but.... when he was born we use to crack jokes that he looked like a guinea pig lolzzz he had the roundest face with the smallest eyes and tons of hair that would always be up. it took mb a month or so for him to look like his adorable self!!!!
My mom told me I looked like ET at birth. Nice. I do agree that most newborns aren't cute because usually they are swollen and red from the push down the birth canal. My son was so pale and had swollen little face and come head but after a few days he looked less alien like. Oh but that newborn smell!!!! Nothing like it, I could smell a newborns head all day!

I did not think DD was a cute newborn. She was adorable once she put some fat on her. She was just skinny and funny looking at first. She's so much cuter now. Lol.
DHs best friend said something to DH about her not being cute as an infant and DH threatened to punch him in the nose. He told me we could say it, but no one else could.
I think in all the haze of newborn life, your mind plays tricks on you. If they weren't cute, you'd go mad.

I'm pretty much with you on this one. I think babies freshly born look kinda like tiny, wrinkly old men. X_X I know it will be different when I see my son though. I want to do the skin-to-skin contact right away, but I'm worried about being kinda grossed out by an unwashed newborn, as immature as that may sound, lol.
I think 3D ultrasounds are super creepy and make babies look anything but cute.
Me too! I did one of those with my first, mostly to reconfirm the sex, and when I saw her nose I was so paranoid. It looked so weird! So the entire rest of the pregnancy I was worried about her looking like a freak. She came out fine and way way cuter than the 3d US. We are skipping it this time.
@Sweet Sadie Mae I know, right?? We've had this long running joke because My DH and I both inherited our parents' strong European noses (huge honkers) so surely our child is doomed. Well on the 3d, I almost started crying. They assured me it's too early to have predominant features like that, perhaps we don't need all that detail at this stage?

My husband has a pretty big nose and on our 3D the babies nose looked kinda big. I decided to ignore it because it's tough to REALLY see everything. Praying the baby gets my nose

I was the opposite. I was a super cute baby and then I went through a 15-year awkward phase.
My oldest was the prettiest newborn. I had to pull up pictures...my second born looked just like her dad. ..so handsome? But i thought she was beautiful. My third born was super chunky in the face and had this one eye that wouldn't open quite as much as the other. I think i like the awkwardness. Kind of like how pugs or smooshed face kitties are my favorite. My mom has a dog who has a yellow, snaggle tooth and she has my heart too.
@mrsdhouse89 this is far less unpopular than most people will ever admit. Sometimes I just can't lie and I'll say the baby is "so big!" or "so sweet!" Really I'm thinking "soooo not cute!"
My UO is flip flops are not sandals. They are flip flops. Sandals have a back strap. (I don't know why this bothers me so much)
I agree that newborns are ugly, at least funny-looking. My nephew had this squished-looking flat face when he was born (and he's adorable now!), and my son had chipmunk cheeks. He was the cutest around 3 months, when he looked like a baby doll.
Here's my UO. I don't think babies look cute when they're really, really fat. Like their cheeks are so chubby their eyes are squinty and their legs look like the Michelin man. I realize I'm taking about perfectly healthy babies here, often who've been EBF. And I'm not saying it's wrong for a baby to get plump on Mommy's milk. I just think babies look cuter when they're slightly slimmer. Then again, I may be biased, because my boy was skinny as can be till around 9 months old (and he was well-fed!).
Every time I see the HDBD thread for bump pics, I think of "HBDC" (aka honey badger don't care)...that YouTube video that came out a couple years ago and was really popular. Not sure if this is a UO, but it gets me every single time! I've been a real pregnancy honey badger lol!

I agree about chunk overload. My niece was like that and everybody thought she was so cute and i loved her to bits but was confused. It was too much. She's the prettiest young lady in the world though. Sometimes it seems like the things that make babies the most awkward are what give them the best features when they grow up.
My UO: I hate high heels. For one I'm tall and never felt sexy wearing them and rocking out at 6 feet plus. Also, they are just so bad for your body and ever since i learned that i just can't deal at all. If you wear high heels and complain to me about body aches expect one of my nerdy, link filled lectures about alignment. My sister is a shoe fiend and we have actually fought over this.

I cannot stand high heels either. They are so uncomfortable! Gimme a cute pair of flats any day.
today is my baby brothers birthday yay!!!! it is a party, there will be balloons and he texted me himself to invite me to the party he planned ..he is ssoooo tacky!!!!
.....well he turns 3 and im so happy, ive been looking forward to it today....my UO: i cant stand how little kids are dressed up in button downs and dressy pants or a suit get up...idk if this is a spanish thing or a just my family thing but omggg it grinds my gears! its summer, its hot, AND HE IS 3 !!!!!!!!!!!!
I like waking up early. It gives me a false sense of accomplishment, especially when I beat the sun.
@BrooklynBroussard, I wake up early to get my "me time" and enjoy a morning workout. Yesterday morning reminded me why I love it! We had a beautiful sunrise saddled right on the edge of storm clouds, and nestled in between the two was a beautiful rainbow. I live in a rural area, so the sun, the fields, the clouds, the rainbow, and everything in between made it an awesome way to start the day!
I don't think chubby babies are cute either. I mean yes, chubby checks are cute, but when people post pictures of their kid and are like "he's in the 99% for weight," I'm like uhhh, that's not cute.

This was exactly how I felt before i had kids when I would see little ones dressed up. Other than for church on Sunday, of course. Now, I have the weirdo 3 year old boy who LOVES to dress up. He loves to wear dress shoes, ties, vests, belts, suspenders. Dressed down for him is khaki shorts with a polo or short sleeve button down. Getting him to wear normal kid clothes is almost impossible. Unless it has a cape.... He actually asked for new church shoes for his 3rd birthday and was dancing in circles hugging them when he opened them. He has a serious shoe problem. He has more shoes than me and his 6 year old sister combined.

After tearing meniscus and having to have surgery on my right knee, I can't really deal with high heels any more. There are occasions when flats just won't work (like when I have to wear a fancy dress), but most of the time, it's flats or barefoot for me!
I thought that too.but i just recently found out that in florida it's a misdemeanor to cohabitate. Technically I'm breaking the law. And it falls under lewd and lascivious behaviorand it's been enforced with up to 700 people in the past 5 years. I've been on z letter writing campaign ever since i found out.
@komorebi in GA as far as I know, and I could be wrong, if you live with someone 5 years or more it's common law marriage although you still can't add them to your insurance or make any decisions should they end up hospitalized, etc. I'll double check..that's interesting..and kind of ridiculous it's against the law..what the heck?
@DeeGreer@komorebi It did used to be 5 years in Georgia, but I think it's now only recognized if the common law marriage was entered into before 1997. I can't remember why the changed it though.

There's a difference to me between chunky babies and FAT babies. My sister's nephew is, like, seven or eight months old and wears 24m clothes. His hands are almost as big as my mom's. It's sad. I don't want to say he's gross because 1) I'm overweight and have been most of my life and 2) he's just a baby and relies on other people to care for him. Poor baby is most definitely not a cutie. Chunky babies are cute though. DH was a chunky baby (for a while at least...MIL had zero idea what she was doing, and he was put into a "failure to thrive" category). My heart melted seeing pictures of month-old-Jim. My sister was a chunky baby, too. She had the biggest cheeks ever and was very cute. It evened out over the first four months or so, and she didn't look as chunky anymore.
@MamaOwl15 Oh no I love me some chunky babies!! My little man had the cutest Buddha belly and could never wear jeans until probably age 3 and now he's a skinny 7 year old. I do agree though there is a difference between chunky baby and fat baby.
Oh and I love me some bald babies too! Chunky and bald that's how I like them. I guess my UO is when babies come out with tons of hair! Feels weird to me when you can put a ponytail on a newborn
UO: I seem to have turned into a lurker. I haven't been posting lately. I love reading all the threads though. Dealing with extreme exhaustion and stress and find it hard to comment lately. I don't want to be this lame...really.
This is my Chumonka he was at least a year old in this picture. We spent over a year adjusting his medication for his hypothyroidism that he was diagnosed with at six weeks. He was 45 pounds from six months old to almost four.
DD1 was a butterball at birth, and stayed that way till about age 18 months. Now she's 90th percentile in height and 54th in weight. I miss those rolls on rolls (AND the baldness, lol).
I still don't eat vegetables.. With the exception of small ones cut up and mixed in other food that I'm too lazy to pick out. And you know what? I don't feel bad.
@mollypuss1 I looked like Chris Farley as a baby. 3 chins, knuckles with dimples and a weird ass hairline. Thank god for puberty cuz I was a funny looking bastard until I was like 17 or 18
