I'm a new mom and I am struggling getting my baby to nap and sleep at night. My little guy is 3 weeks and hates being swaddled but, his arms seem to wake him up most of the time. Also I want to use the happiest baby on the block calming techniques but he won't let me swaddle him. He only sleeps 2 and half hours stretches and I am so tired. He also gets very overtired and fussy. I bought a halo swaddle sack but it is so big it rides up in his face and I worry he can't breath. Any suggestions for getting baby to nap/ sleep without being swaddled? Or any swaddling advice?
Re: Swaddle frustration!
I would try every freaking swaddle out there before giving up! My daughter needed to be swaddled until she was about 4 months old otherwise her arms woke her up every single time. Can you buy a smaller Halo swaddle? I love those and feel they hold babies in the best? You bought the kind with the Velcro right? Not just the sleep sack...

Also, what does your LO sleep in at night? Crib, with you, bassinet?
I used a Rock 'n' Play for this baby and it was a lifesaver. She slept great in it. My first kid was an awful sleeper and I wonder if he would have been better if I had a RnP back then.
I also think it's key to try and get them to sleep right when they first show signs of being tired. When you do go to put your LO down for a nap or bed at night, do whatever you have to do in order to get him to sleep. Don't worry about bad habit or any of that, just get him to sleep. I have always fed both of my kids right before bed and naps and if they fall asleep eating, fine. In the bed they go. If you need to rock, shush, feed, whatever...just do it.
Frustrating, but normal. We used the sleep pods for my son.
