Doctors orders!

I'm 33wks and for about a week now I have been having terrible pains in my belly and back. I knew they weren't BH because I've had them before an they were nothing compared to what I was feeling. I've been drinking more water and going to bed early and really trying to push through it. Well last night I didn't sleep at all the pain was so intense, I tried different positions, more pillows taking some Tylenol, nothing helped. Even my husband who is a heavy sleeper was awaken by my tossing and turning. I went to work this morning and tried to push through the day but just couldn't take it anymore, so I called my doctor and she told me to go to triage. They took me right in, checked my vitals and hooked me up to monitor babies heartbeat. After some testing they said everything was fine, babies heart beat is strong and so is he because he was moving like crazy, it took forever to get a steady reading on him cause he wouldn't stop moving! When the doctor came to talk to my husband and I he said it was "normal pregnancy pain" and that hot baths and massages would really help. What my husband heard was that I need to toughen up but what I heard was that I needed more massages! I'm a FTM and don't really know how I'm supposed to be feeling but I'm glad I called and it was worth it just to have peace of mind that my baby is doing great. Plus now when I ask for a back rub I can say Doctors Orders!!

Re: Doctors orders!

  • Glad to hear everything is okay :) you never know so it's good you had it checked out. Not sure if you have access to a pool or a prenatal swim class, but I find that it does wonders to float in the water and takes the pressure of all my aches and pains! Good luck on getting your hubby to follow doctors orders, that's awesome! Lol.

  • Hahaha I'm laughing so hard at "When the doctor came to talk to my husband and I he said it was "normal pregnancy pain" and that hot baths and massages would really help. What my husband heard was that I need to toughen up but what I heard was that I needed more massages!" That is too funny. Dr's orders for sure. I'm glad everything is ok and I really hope you start to feel better. I've had an excruciating headache for like 30 hours straight (blood pressures good and talked to my midwife, I needed that peace of mind, too) so I definitely can sympathize with crappy prego pains. Sometimes I want to rip my hair out, pregnancy is not fun!

  • Pregnancy definitely isn't as glamorous as it seems for some people and I felt so bad leaving work today because two other girls in my office are pregnant but only in the first tri and I didn't want to scare them! They always ask how I am and I'll say "my body is trying to kill me, but I'm really happy!!" and so far it's a no go on the back rub.. It looks like I may how to outsource haha

I spend most weekends floating in the pool and it's the best feeling ever! I wish I could get one for my office and lay in it while I'll take calls, I would be so productive and happy :)

  • I know when my baby is pushing out, sometimes it hurts. Maybe with your little one moving so much your insides are getting pushed around. But totally agree that your hubby should give you more massages...lol
