So I'm 37 week 4 days, and I'm doubling back on my birth plan to make sure it's complete. I look at the hospital's website to see if they have any established policies about having my toddler present during part (or all, depending upon toddler tolerance) of the birth. My husband had the experience of being there when his little brother and sister were born, and for him it really helped him bond with them.
Well, come to find out my hospital just opened a new Natural Birthing Center complete with amenities that would be more toddler-friendly (a children's play center, a family room, etc.). I'm like "Wow, I gave birth without medication last time, can I qualify?"
Well, you have to take a bunch of their courses before 36 weeks to qualify. They literally just opened this up, and my OB's group doesn't participate in that section. So, I don't get to go there, but I wanted to share this experience with you guys and hopefully it'll help any of you ladies that are due later to keep on top of your possibilities sooner rather than later! I just took it for granted that I had given birth at the same hospital last time and hadn't considered that they would have more options available now!
