No blood test until ten weeks?

i called to tell my OB I was pregnant and set up my first appointment, not until Aug 14. By then I will be one day shy of ten weeks. I get that some doctors don't want to see you until ten weeks, but is it normal not even to have a blood test done before then? I'm coming from TTC for ten years, including many RE procedures where everything was so closely monitored. Just seeing if others are experiencing this too.

    Yep that's normal :) enjoy no poking or prodding for a while :)

    I got my blood test right away. I'll see my doctor at 7 weeks.

    Yep, same here. I have an appointment that includes blood work at 10 weeks. They had me come in this week (6 weeks), but it was just to pee in a cup, set up appointments, etc. Kind of pointless.
