Belly bandit

Has anyone used this or something similar? Did it work? I worry that it wouldn't stay in place, is that an issue?

I had a medical grade belly binder. It did stay in place but was difficult to sit - had to recline. Would like to know if the belly bandit is any good too??

Edited: oops wrong thing. I thought you meant the panel to convert non maternity into maternity. Never mind, I never used the belly bandit. Following though

  • I don't know if it helped shrink my stomach but it Was really good back support when I was up and walking around after my csections. Like the PP said it is difficult to sit in.

I'm a FTM, but a friend used the Belly Bandit after her second child and she loved it. Said it made her not feel her organs shifting back into place so much, and it also helped reshape her hips to where they were pre-pregnancy. I've registered for one.
An alternative - search Etsy for Bengkung belly binders. I'm not sure how to tie them (YouTube probably knows) but they appear to be quite popular.
  • Agreed with above poster. I used the belly bandit with my first one and it helped me feel like my insides weren't just rumbling around in there with all that extra space. I didn't use it as long as I should have but it helped while I did. I still have it so I'll be using it again this time around (and for longer) I am looking at other brands just to compare.

I used it for a number of weeks after DD was born. I took it to the hospital with me, but couldn't get it strapped until about a week PP. I have a few gripes with the product:
    1. It's thick and HOT. I had DD in July, so that was already going against me, but having a layer of neoprene around your belly/hips all day and night just added to my internal furnace.
    2. Where it buckles, the velcro can be itchy and irritating to the skin. I started wearing a thin tank under it so that the velcro wouldn't bother me as I moved throughout the day.
    3. I'm short-waisted, so I found that the product was too long for me. It ended up bunching and folding vertically. I bought the Belly Bandit BFF to wear for this reason this time around. It should eliminate this problem. I also bought it in a medium vs. a small last time.
    4. This is also applicable to my body, but it squished all my back fat up and gave me an unattractive roll a few inches below my bra line. It didn't bother me enough to not wear it, and I think that was more appealing than having a muffin top, so I dealt with it. It just made me self conscious if I was wearing a tight shirt.
    5. Overall, I couldn't tell you if it helped tighten things back up. I've never had a kid before, so I have nothing to compare it to. What I can say is that it helped me feel good about my body shape very soon after giving birth. For that reason, I look forward to wearing my new one after I have DD#2.

Edit to add that I didn't actually answer OP's question: I did find that it would slide up on my waist throughout the day. I'd just pull it back down when I used the restroom. This issue may also not be an issue now that I bought the one for shorter-waisted people. We'll see!

I stopped into cvs and bought a futero (I believe that was the brand?) band. The box states it is great for surgeries and back support (although I did not have a c-section). For me, it really helped- was lightweight but supportive and easy to sit/walk around in. I bought 2 sizes as my belly shrunk down a bit. I plan to use it again this time around.
  • I have read reviews on it and it seems to roll up and bunch a lot. I will be getting some kind of post partum binder, but I am still doing research as to what one I want. After my last baby (#3) my insides felt really jumbled up and unsupported.

  • Loved it. Will use it again. Lost all my baby weight in less than a month even with it having been an emergency c section. Hoping baby #2 weight disappears too. Oh and Breastfeeding. So I think it was a combination of the 2.

  • Maybe a weird question: but do the postpartum wraps actually differ from standard shape wear?? I'm just wondering if a good pair of spanx would do the same trick since it's something I already have??
Anyone have any experience going this route?

  • I have the same question! I bought both. This post is so old I doubt we will get any replies though.
  • If no answers come, I'll start a new thread. I just figured I would cover my bases and stick with the existing thread first. ;)

Spanx were way too tight for me PP. I wore my maternity girdle for the first month then moved on to spanx once my uterus shrunk.

  • Has anyone used a bellefit girdle? They're more expensive but I've heard good things. Just can't tell if they're worth the price.
