Infertility

Introduction (previous pregnancy mentioned)

hi everyone...I am new to the board. My husband and I have been TTC #2 for over 8 months and have been seeing an RE. We've had the full work up and met today with our RE for a consultation/plan. I have significant scar tissue from my previous c section. I had a hysteroscopy a few weeks ago where he removed some of it. He is not suggesting surgery to repair fully- he stated if I am able to get pregnant I would need to have another csection and they could repair it then. Due to my age -40- he is suggesting IUI or IVF. Insurance covers the IUI in full. IVF is not covered at all. I'm torn. Not sure what to do and was wondering if any of you have been here and can offer some helpful advice. What did you do to make your decision? Any suggestions?

I greatly appreciate any thoughts. Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

  • Hello and welcome. I've never had a child so I don't know what second infertility is like. BUT, if insurance covers IUI in full, I'd try it at least once and if it doesn't work see how you feel after. I'd try anything that you don't have to pay for first, but that's just me. Good luck!

  • Welcome.  I agree with the pp it couldnt hurt to try IUI since the insurance covers it.  This is an emotional process but at least if the finances are taken care of its one less thing to worry about. I am not really knowledgeable on yout diagnosis but I would look into the scar tissue being the reason for your fertility issues.  Maybe a second opinion?  Best wishes with this process.
