im 14 weeks and 3 days and my arms fall asleep all day and night. Is this just a normal symptom bc this is my 3rd baby and I didn't have this with the other 2? I see doc on aug 4.
Haha! I'm on #2 and this totally didn't happen with my first either. Mine isn't only limited to my arms! My legs and face randomly do this as well. Idk what it is, but it annoys me greatly.
I would ask the doctor definitely when you see him/her. I know my mom has talked to me a lot about how she developed terrible carpal tunnel with each of her pregnancies. It started earlier and earlier with each one. She said they they told her it can happen in pregnancy and she had to wear braces on her wrists while she was sleeping. She even told me it got so bad towards the end that she had a hard time even drying her hair bc her hands and arms would fall asleep! She said it would always go away about 6 weeks after she gave birth.
I've noticed if I sleep a certain way my hands and fingers are a little tingly when I wake up as well. I was also planning to ask the doc when I see her tomorrow.
Happens to me when I sleep if I cross my arms or sleep with arms above my head. It happened with my last pregnancy too. Definitely talk to your Doctor about it to see if there's anything you can do to ease it
Yes, I'm experiencing that at night. I just reposition and go back to sleep. My sister sent me her wrist braces because she had carpal tunnel pretty bad, so I'm expecting it. Only at night so far..
Ugh yes! Part of my insomnia is due to my hands constantly falling asleep and my wrists hurting. This didn't happen with my last pregnancy until nearly the end.
It can be caused by the increased fluid and swelling we are experiencing. Also when sleeping it can be caused by the nerve and blood supply becoming compressed around the collar bone if your arms are raised or your neck is bent at an awkward angle.
I just searched this and I am wondering if your doctor suggested anything? I have not been getting good sleep because my arms fall asleep and now my legs are staring to fall asleep when I lie down as well
Yes!! This is happening to me when I sit on the floor with my legs crossed! (I do my makeup on the floor so I can spread it all out ) I was thinking it was weird! I'm not very big yet at all that it should be a problem?! So so strange!!
Yes! Happens to me all the time!! I asked my doc about it at my last appointment, and she said it may be a hydration issue. She said if it happens moRe often with no relief even after walking around, then it could be blood pressure problems starting early and to monitor it.
I get that also- 17 weeks and have for a few weeks now- and it's beyond annoying!!! I believe it is from brachial plexus compression- probably caused by the new positions we are constantly trying to find to be comfortable. I have suspected it is due to tightness in the pec minor muscle in the chest/front shoulder- (Look up "Pec Minor Syndrome") Fortunately, a good massage therapist can help with that!!! It, or at least mine, is def. not related to carpal tunnel syndrome. (Carpal tunnel is exclusively a ligament in the wrist putting pressure on a nerve, which causes tingling in fingers 1,2,3 and half of 4 only, but many health professionals don't know much about the specifics of that.) Not that we need an excuse, but book a massage with a good therapist! Yay! And just explain the tingling. Word of warning- pec minor work is not really comfortable, but you'll be happy you did it!!! I'm a massage therapist and see this quite often.
