Today is day #11 in the NICU for my baby. It seems as though once your here you never leave. There are about 12 babies in the NICU with my baby. They have all been there since we got here. I have only seen one baby go home. I want to see babies leave!!!! Any success stories? I need some positivity! The NICU is such a sad place.
@CarelessDiva89 finally got to bring her baby girl home!!:) hang in there mama! Thinking of you and that sweet baby and praying for a short and sweet remainder of your NICU stay.
I still have an inside baby, but I hope you get to take your LO home soon!
We were in the NICU for a couple of days with my first baby, and while everyone was wonderful to us, it was a really sad place to be. I say prayers for the NICU nursing staff and the NICU families frequently. I can't imagine how hard it must be to work there!
My baby was In the NICU for 7 days. When they told me the night before that he would be leaving the next day I almost passed out because they told us 2 weeks at first and it was a total shock. Hang in there mama, it will all be a memory soon.
I brought my little girl home on Tuesday after 15 days in the NICU. I know what you mean though! We saw 2 babies go home and I cried both times out of envy. But the doctors and nurses know what they're doing!!! Your baby is in good hands! Your baby will be home soon @CountingMyBlessings!!
Thinking of you and hoping your LO goes home soon. Those days can feel like years so hang in there. When mine were in special care, they never gave us a timeline and were super vague and then one day they just said they were going home tomorrow. I think the worst part was never knowing when it would end, it felt like we would never get to go home.
Hang in there! It's tough- we didn't get to hold our little Mallory until about 3 days after birth and I wasn't able to breastfeed or anything! She was able to come home with us on day 5, thankfully! It's definitely not a happy place but just know that your little one is getting the best possible care and constant care! It eased my mind a ton! Thinking of you!
I haven't delivered yet, but I'm nervous because everyone (doctors, nurses, etc.) keeps assuming that, since we're having twins, I will deliver super early and they will be in the NICU for some time. I wish my doctor would let me try to get further than 37 weeks. So far I am at 34w5d. I don't have advice for you, but soon I will know exactly how you feel (and knowing ahead of time that I will be in that position isn't really helping...). T&P for all the NICU bambinos!
My little girl is 2 weeks today and still in the NICU, they say she will be here until her due date (Aug 28th) It's their policy...but she is doing so well they might discharge her a week or two early, still a long time, and I'm counting the days, my baby shower is on the 1st and I wish she could be with me. It's tough but it's getting easier. But no babies in our NICU that I know of have gone home
I am so sorry for all of you going through this. Every day that passes is one closer to them coming home. I know it isn't easy. My niece was born at 1lb8oz and was in the NICU for 3 months. You all are such strong Momma's! Many prayers being sent.
I haven't had my baby yet but a good friend of mine, just got to come with her little boy after being in Nicu 10 days! He continues to improve daily and docs are pretty confident he won't have any lasting effects! Well wishes to you and your little one!
It really can seem like you're never going to leave & be there forever! After day 33 we we're finally able to take our daughter home. I have such admiration for nicu parents. T&p's for you & your sweet baby
We're on day 19 in the NICU so I know how you're feeling. There have been 3 other babies in the bed next to us that have come and gone and I'm so envious every time. They haven't given me a timeline so it feels like we'll be here forever but I just try to take it one day at a time. Stay strong! I'll be thinking of you and your sweet baby.
@CountingMyBlessings hey hun. I was wondering about you since my post about being in the hospital and being bored and you were talking to me. I didn't know you had you baby. I'm sure it gets lonely and its a long ride but look at it this way,its better to be there and they take the best care of your LO than not at all. Your lil fighter will be home before you know it and all will be well and you have a lifetime together :-) I'll keep you in my thoughts
I hope your baby can go home with you soon! I'm sure it seems like forever right now, but each day that goes by brings you one day closer to being a family at home.
With a previous pregnancy, I had one baby stay for 32 days while his twin sister stayed for 37. At the time, it was torture and lasted forever ever but now it seams like so long ago. I know it's a horrible wait and scary time but hope you escape soon!!! Prayers for the sweet baby and momma!
My baby girl Elayna was born last Sunday the 19th at 34 weeks and we are supposed to be released Sunday night or Monday morning, I can't wait to take her home with me.
My little guy came home from the NICU this past Sunday after 18 days there. I went in for my usual visit Friday prior and his feeding tube was out and the Neonatologist said 48 hours until discharge. It was the most amazing thing. The time in there feels like forever but once you get home it's so worth it!

We just entered the NICU yesterday. Annaliese was delivered at exactly 37 weeks due to IUGR. The nurses are guessing she may actually be less than 37 weeks. She's having trouble breathing, which we knew may happen. Its so frustrating because she will show a little improvement, and we get our hopes up, and then she takes a few steps back. They dont want us to hold her too often because it takes her a while to settle down again. I just wish i could sit in there all day with her in my arms.
Lurking from Sept 15...my twin girls were born at 32 weeks on the dot and are on day 14 of what we anticipate will be a long NICU stay...thoughts and prayers to all of you going through the same, it's hell. So weird walking around feeling like your heart is broken after you just had two children.
My nephew has been in the NICU for 15 days. As long as he passes his car seat test tomorrow, he'll go home Monday! He was born at 34 weeks. The NICU he was in had such overcrowding, he got moved to well baby nursery but with NICU nurses. Good luck! Watching my brother and sil go through this Makes me so grateful we have made It to 38 weeks.
Praying for you and your family @KCwalza146 . I know the feeling- it's heart wrenching. I felt like I should be on top of the world, but instead, I was riddled with fear and anxiety. I hope your sweet little ones grow stronger with each passing day!
We were supposed to go home today but my baby girl failed her first car seat test so we are trying again right now, we are a hour in and half another hour to go. It's the only thing keeping us here. She's doing great other than the car seat. T&P appreciated!
I saw a baby go home yesterday! I was so proud, even though it wasn't my baby lol. I have to say that, after having read all the NICU stories on here over the past several months, I definitely have an appreciation for each baby's story. Now when we visit our babies in the NICU, I think more about all the other babies in there and I wonder how long they've been there and what their stories are. I realize how lucky we are and how well ours are doing.
