Stuff no one wants to talk about!

So I have a new, no where near the first, Hemorrhoid and it is extremely painful. I have a cream but am getting no relief. Any of you lovely ladies have advice for relief?

  • I don't really have any advice for you, don't have the experience, but I know there have been a LOT of topics on this. Maybe a quick search will turn up some results? Search bar's at the bottom of the page.

  • Witch hazel and sitz baths with Epsom salts.

  • I don't have any... yet.. lol. But I know the ladies on here have sworn by witch hazel pads, tucks and whatnot. Give hemorrhoids a quick search! Good luck!

Agree.  I had awful hemorrhoids post-birth last time and this is what did the trick.  They're the worst.

  • I have heard of keeping the tucks pads in the fridge, some immediate relief when put on and the witch hazel in them helps.

I personally haven't had them but I was reading a few months ago that leaving a tucks pad between the Crack of your bum is really soothing (sounds weird I know). Some say to leave prep h gel in the fridge and put it on. Sitz baths of course. And some people were not using toilet paper but using water to clean themselves after a bm as tp even the most gentle one was causing bleeding and irritation
  • Carefull with creams as they can stain!
  • The only thing that gave me instant relief was a sitz bath (just sitting in warm water in the tub). My doctor also prescribed some cream when I said that prep h wasn't helping. Oh, and it really helped to sit on a special donut cushion; I brought it with me everywhere I went for 3 days! Good luck; they can be soo painful :(
  • Witch hazel pads and Metamucil 2x a day to help with BMs.

Your OB can also write you a script for a stronger cream that can give you some relief, especially when you use it with witch hazel pads. I also recommend spending the $20 and buying a Squatty Potty. It puts you in the correct position for a BM and eliminates pressure on your hemorrhoids.

I haven't had hemorrhoid with my pregnancy but I'm a nurse and tucks pads have helped clients I have seen

Go to the drug store & purchase the numbing hemorrhoid spray. Before you use the bathroom spray, IT'S AMAZING. With my first the hospital gave me a similar one, but the drug store version worked better. Ask for the spray....

  • Chill/refrigerate anything you use! The coolness is so comforting.

I'm with @hazeldagarr and say get a squatty potty! I haven't had hemorrhoids but it has helped with constipation! If constipation is the source of your evil try fiber gummies too.
  • Thanks everyone! Hoping for some relief soon!
