Quad Screen

I hadn't wanted to do it at first but I decided to have it done yesterday(at 17wks2days) and I wasn't sure when people usually get the results. Regardless of the results I WILL love my child, and if anything is suspected I just want to prepare myself to take care of his/her needs. Did you ladies have it done/ or are going to?

    No one doubts you will love your child if some diagnosis arises from the testing. I think it usually takes a week or so to get results?
    I did it when I was pg last time but this time I am not having it done.

    It takes about a week. I'm sure you'll love your child regardless but knowing if they'll even make it to term is a good thing, IMO. It's not all about Downs Syndrome.

    I think the quad screen is a little more important (to me) because it tests for neural tube defects and these almost always require some form of surgery upon birth. I'm still undecided what hospital I'm delivering at so this would play a big role in that decision. There are also fewer false positives with this screen (which is still JUST a screen).

    Anyway, I'll be doing it.

    I did it yesterday - it was only a blood test so I guess I figured why not (blood tests are free on my insurance) and the lab is 2 minutes from my office. Praying that all is well for my baby and everyone else's!!!

    I was not going to have it done this pregnancy... My doc talked me into the cell free DNA instead. I ended up paying over $200 for the quad last pregnancy, so even with my portion of the newer test it is cheaper.

    I opted for the quad screen and got it done on Tuesday. Anxious to make sure everything is okay.

    I have opted out of all testing so far, but my OB requires this one because she feels so strongly about its importance and future health implications. I trust her judgement and am having mine done in a few weeks.
