I'm 38 weeks pregnant and had my second exam today. I'm 1 cm dilated, not a whole lot. After my exam today I had bleeding which is expected. I also have been having strong Braxton hicks contractions and stabbing back pain. Is it possible the exam has triggered labor!? Just walking around is painful. My contractions are still a bit random , but coming more frequently.
Is it possible, totally. Keep track of your contractions and see if a pattern emerges. It's also possible that your cervix is just irritated from the check. Maybe take a rest if you can and see if everything calms down or kicks up. GL if it's the real deal!
The first time I had a cervix check with DS was when I was already in labor at the hospital. They told me I was only 2 cms (which did not seem possible with how frequent and painful the contractions were!) and they were sending me home. As they were telling me this, my water broke. To this day I am convinced it broke due to them checking. Granted, as I said, I was already in labor, so I am sure it was ready to break anyway, but I think that it sped the process up (and thankfully got me admitted, because I was terrified of going back home and progressing quickly)!
I doubt it true, because if cervical checks really did start labor, wouldn't we all be having sex to move things along here?! Thank goodness I get these checks, hopefully it will make things start sooner rather than later!
Still laboring! I'm only at 5 cm and my doctor scheduled me to be induced Thursday. My contractions come in strong and then fizzle out. This is no text book labor I'm assuming. Any safe suggestions to get my contractions going again? I really don't want to be induced.

Re: Possible for labor after cervix examination ?
I don't know if they per say "cause" labor, but I'm sure if baby is gearing up, it could help push things along.
