Swollen Gums?

I am a ftm / 23 weeks with our baby girl. Within the past two weeks my bottom gums have swollen so bad! I'm flossing and brushing at least twice a day- but it continues to swell and bleed more and more. Any advice for how to lessen the gum swelling / treat it? Thanks :)

  • I have the same problem! 23 weeks and my gums are constantly bleeding, I've been told to have drinks with alot of ice in?

  • I've heard oil pulling helps (swishing coconut oil around in your mouth) also I ordered this Thieves toothpaste from Young Living and I haven't had bleeding since!

  • Hi,

My gums were swollen and bleeding so bad that I had to see a dentist even though my doctor reassured me that it was a common symptom of pregnancy. I had what is called a "whole mouth debridement" done. It was very painful without any anthesthesia. So make sure you have a consent form from your OB for all treatment before you go as I was not prepared and sat through over an hour of excruciating pain. I will say that I have noticed a 90% improvement in my dental health. It has helped significantly and was worth the pain. My gums only bleed once or twice a week in ole area now. I also use a non alcoholic mouth wash after each brush too. That is also helpful in getting to the areas that I missed while brushing. My recommendation to you is to go see your dentist ASAP. You won't regret it.

  • Please don't ignore dental pain, OP. I have the worst teeth in the world and ignored a tooth ache and spent 4th of July in the ER with a raging oral infection, followed by a tooth extraction the next week. I'm used to tooth pain, so I just let it go, but the baby makes dental problems 100x's worse. Get it checked out. Try also rinsing with warm salt water in the meantime.
  • I woke up last week and I had swollen guns too, just on the lower left
