So, I am still not dilated AT ALL. I don't know why I am so disappointed by this, but I am! My due date is just a few days away and I am soooo ready, I guess I keep thinking with each doctor's visit that atleast something will be happening. Not yet though.
So, she suggested I come back tomorrow for an ultrasound to get the baby's weight. My last one was just at 36 weeks and he was already 6.5 pounds, so three and a half weeks may have plumped him up some as this is the time when they grow the most. So, we'll see what happens tomorrow at the ultrasound and what the estimated weight is.
Then, she is having me come back to see her next Wednesday (40 weeks and 2 days) and she said that IF I am still not dilated at all, then at that point she would want to induce me because if still nothing by then, it's probably not likely to happen on it's own after that point, and we don't want to make me go to 42 weeks and risk having a 10 pound baby! So I am totally fine with that. And I do agree that if I am not dilated still after another week, it's best to induce me. She still wants me to go this full week and see if anything happens, because she doesn't want to induce me at this point for no reason (which I agree with). She mentioned that inducing me before I am dilated gives me a much greater risk of ending up with a C-section, and there is no reason to do that so we'll just wait out this week and see if (hopefully) I start labor on my own. If not, I'll go in next Wednesday again for another checkup and then likely he would be born on Thursday the 15th.
So that's it, in a nutshell! I'll let everyone know tomorrow after the U/S what his estimated weight is!
And how are you doing? Are you feeling any better? ?
I'm sorry your not dilated...but from what I am reading up on alot of people don't, everything can change the next day and then they are in labor. Did your OB suggest squats? Mine wants 10 a day for ten seconds at a time to help move things along. It might be worth a try.
I'm okay...Madison was measuring two weeks behind at 5 lbs, 10 oz on Monday and she is sunny side up so I am re-thinking if an induction is the way to go next week. If she was turned the correct way I would feel better about it but if she doesn't gain weight they want her out asap. Ughhh.
I'm freaking out a little too each night realizing this could be the last nigh/weekend we have alone (Dh and I) and that we can bring home a little baby at any time.
I totally know what you mean! Every night I tell DH, "this could be the last time we eat dinner just the two of us" or "this could be the last time we are watching this tv show without having a baby around" - etc. It is so weird to think, but I know that once the baby is here we will soon forget what our life was like WITHOUT him. Still it's crazy though!
So, wow - 5 lbs., 10 oz. - so tiny! I know they can be off, too, by up to a pound. Chase was 6 pounds, 8 oz. at my 36 week U/S, which I thought seemed HUGE for that point of time (although my doc said not really) - but still, that was just over 3 weeks ago, so he could very well be up to 8 pounds already! I guess I will find out tomorrow! ?
On a side note, my in-laws fly in on the 17th and will be here for a week, which just so happens to be the week of the Lost premiere! So I am going to have to make sure they can take care of the baby for 2 hours on the 21st so that I can have full attention for the premiere!?LOL.?Oh, that makes me sound horrible! But, you know, I need my full attention for the premiere! I've been waiting for the season to start again for a longer amount of time than I have even been pregnant!!?
It's funny you mentioned Lost....Madison has to come before then...lol I'm serious I really love that show and by that time I will be home with her, regardless.
I hope things go well today with the weight and remember, everything could change overnight so don't worry about not be dilated. I hope Chase comes this weekend so you can avoid an Induction
