Is my little one ready for food?

My daughter is 3 1/2 months old and a hungry little girl. She's a big baby over 15 lbs and always seems hungry. She can down 8-10 oz of formula in one go and is hungry 2 1/2 hrs later. I'm thinking of introducing some rice cereal but idk if it's to early. She watches us eat and has excellent head control. I don't want to rush it but I think this might help her feel full longer

    No it is way too early. The AAP doesn't recommend solids until 6 months. Some say 4 months but that is the absolute earliest.

    I birthed a 9 lb greedy boy that I weaned off BM by 2 mos. while he was not drinking 8 ounces by 3.5 months (not even now at 6 mos) he was still hungry every 2.5 hours too. I put a tablespoon of rice cereal in his bottle (i'll get slammed for this) at 3.5 months or so and he stayed full longer. By 4 months I gave him homemade purees. Maybe 2 ounces or so a day. You're the mom and know what's best. Follow and trust your instincts! Gl.

    Three ectopic preganacies in left tube in 1999, 2003 and 2004. HSG in 2010 concluded left tube blockage. IUI with femara in 2012 BFN. IVF #1 June 2013, 20 retreived, 14 mature, 12 fertilized via ICSI, one transferred, four frozen, BFN.  FET in September 2013 - BFN:( FET #2 April 2014 - BFP!!!!

    Mine would eat every 1.5 hrs bc he's extremely active. It's normal. His tummy isn't ready for cereals yet.

    Exactly what pp said. I would wait. But aren't they stinking cute when they stare fascinated at you while you eat? :x

    My baby just turned 3 months and about 3 wks ago at his Drs suggestion we started spoon feeding him rice cereal to help with his gas issues. It worked wonders when nothing else did and he loves it. There are guidelines for feeding but they are just that a guide. If you and your Dr think it's a good idea go for it.

    Everyone has a different opinion on this. It's best to ask your Pediatrician because sometimes the "age" advice is based on an average size baby. My daughter was born at 9 lbs. She was an aggressive eater from the beginning, so much so that I started pumping exclusively at 2 weeks. At her 2 month appointment she was diagnosed with reflux, so the doctor told me to add a teaspoon of rice cereal per ounce to her bottle of breastmilk. I started with just 2 teaspoons, but since her reflux is still pretty bad, I just upped it to 3 teaspoons because she was crying when she swallowed. Your baby isn't going to have horrible side effects from starting a little earlier, and my pediatrician had no problem telling me to put it in there.
