Braxton Hicks

16 weeks and already having them in the evenings. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Re: Braxton Hicks

  • If I were you I would call my OB to confirm that they were indeed Braxton hicks and see if the have any concerns.

I started getting them at 15 weeks. 18w3d and they seem to have slowed down. Only once every couple of days now as opposed to every day. I didn't call my OB but if it's worrying you then it doesn't hurt. There's ton of info online about them.
  • I've been having them everyday since about 18 weeks I just rest when it happens and mKe sure I drink lots of water during the day
  • I just asked my dr about my contractions yesterday.  She said that they COULD happen as early as around 20 weeks, but are likely caused by dehydration at/before that point.  I'm already getting my recommended amount of water daily, but she said that I should increase it--some women just need more fluids to keep their bodies in balance.  Last pregnancy I started getting them in the beginning of the 3rd trimester.

But if you're nervous OR if they get worse even if you're drinking water and sitting with your feet up, make sure that you call your doctor.

  • I would call ob. From my research this starts around 20 weeks
  • I've had a few of them in the past couple of weeks. I'm 18w as of yesterday, STM. I haven't had any in the past few days.
