Hypnobirthing?

Does anyone have any experience with hypnobirthing? My midwife suggested I look into it and I signed up for a 5-week class and also started reading a hypnobirthing book - https://www.amazon.com/HypnoBirthing-natural-approach-comfortable-birthing/dp/0757302661 So far it's all making sense to me, but wanted to hear if others have had good/bad/neutral experiences with it. Thanks!

    I had two coworkers who did this and were really invested in it. Unfortunately they both said it didn't help at all. I'm a FTM, so I have no personal experience.

    I wanted to try it with one of my kids and my midwife talked me out of it. He said I'd be better off to use the Bradley Method, but I never did. I just did what felt natural to my body.

    FTM here and I'll be using hypnobirthing. We start our 5 week class this Friday. My friend delivered twins (full term, 6 pounds and 7 pounds respectively) vaginally with no pain medicine thanks to hypnobirthing, so I figure it's worth a shot!

    This was recommended to me by my OB. I'm getting a book and will look into to more. But would also like know if any others here have personal experience with it.

    I'm reading the book as well.  I definitely believe in the mind-body connection and believe fear does cause pain.  I'm not willing to pay to take classes though.  I'm just trying to educate myself and prepare myself mentally to work with the pain instead of against it.  I do believe that society has created a perception that labor has to be painful and dangerous, which is a false perception.  but I'm also a FTM so who knows!  lol
