Not* so uncomfortable anymore

I am now 38 weeks and it's my first week of maternity leave. This being my first baby I was soooo uncomfortable there for a while that I thought for sure I'd be too miserable to make it to Due Date. So, I took leave 2 weeks early. Well, for the past week or so I am all of a sudden not-so-uncomfortable anymore. I'm actually able to eat...and eat often. And besides my belly I really don't feel as pregnant as I did weeks ago...if that makes any sense.

Is this what "Lightening" is all about?

Re: Not* so uncomfortable anymore

  • I don't know what you mean by "lightening" but it's normal to feel better on maternity leave. You're more relaxed. Working is rough while pregnant so it makes sense.

  • Baby could have dropped giving you more room to breath and eat as well.
  • I felt exactly the same way when I went on maternity leave 2 weeks before my due sate with my first. I only have 8 more day of work before I go out at 38 weeks (as required by my employer)! Woo Hoo!

Glad to hear you're doing better. I'm actually considering starting leave at 28 weeks as well because frankly, I'm miserable at work. I just can't summon up the energy to care about making sales quotas like I should. I spend so much of my time filling up my water bottle and then waddling to the bathroom to pee....I'm just over it. One customer actually looked at me and gave me a hug today. Evidently I look pretty pathetic! I'm a banker and trying to maintain a professional look for as long as possible. Today I wore Crocs, for crying out loud. Yep, I wore rubber shoes today. Sigh....

Maternity leave will definitely help. I'm working my ass off and have a toddler. I'm so uncomfortable and just plain beat.

I'm almost 39 weeks and the family I work for just took a 2 week vacation. Now that I've had 2 weeks off to relax, I'm dreading going back to working 8-10 hour days (since I'm a nanny and the kids are out of school). I'm supposed to go back in on Thursday and I'm so bummed about it :-( I was having so much pain working so much and now I feel so much better/more rested and I know it's going to be 10 times harder at work now that I'm so close to the end. My doctor had been telling me this baby would come early due to many high risk factors, so I truly believed I would not be returning to work until after the baby. I guess he was wrong! Great for baby though!
  • I was the same as soon as I took Mat Leave I felt 'less pregnant'. I even started sleeping through the night again! I think it's just because we are resting more, we are more capable of the everyday because we're not pulling 8-12 hour days anymore.
  • I'm not on Maternity Leave, but at 37 weeks I started feeling way more comfortable. Easier to get off the couch, out of bed. More energy for yoga, work, life. I not sure if my body is just adapting to being this pregnant or if what it really means is I'm going to be two weeks late cuz I feel just fine, there's no way this baby's even thinking about coming out!

  • I'm still working at 39 weeks, but I have been feeling the same way since 38 weeks! I think it's because I kind of gave up on baby coming anytime before her EDD, so I have been resting a lot more and just enjoying the last week or two before she gets here. I have like zero stress right now and I am kind of loving it!
  • This past week I've had off I have been napping and resting as much as possible it has been so nice even with all the horrible pain I've been in. I'm dreading going back to work on Friday but I still have 4 weeks 5 days til my EDD so I'm going back to work as long as I can.
