Any Mom's having a Baby w/Down's?

Hi fellow j'16ers, I am 14w 1 d. I have a 13 month old DS. I received confirmation this am my baby has Down's. Was curious if there are other Mom's out there w/confirmed Down's. Thought if there were we could start a check-in. I am taking it all in and while I have a zillion questions/concerns going through my head, trying not to get too far ahead of myself.

Thanks @mollyj931. I searched previous posts and I didn't see anyone who had a confirmed Down's diagnosis.
  • @skfg I don't think anyone on here has had an amnio yet, and many refuse to anyway, so there may not be any "confirmed" cases but there have been several "highly likely".
  • Hi @skfg I can only imagine how you are probably reacting, there is a lot to think about with a Down syndrome diagnosis.

I just wanted to let you know about a great blog I read. The woman's younger son has Down syndrome. She was actually on my last BMB, a great contributor with lots of resources.

Thanks @StephPegasus. I look forward to reading the blog when I feel better.
  • Big hugs to you, this diagnosis must be a lot to process for you. I haven't had any test results yet, but my Uncle has Down Syndrome. He is nearing 50 and is happy and healthy, and we all love him dearly. I haven't met a child or adult with Downs who isn't extremely affectionate and loving.

Good luck, and I hope you find people to talk to who are going through the same thing. Hugs!
  • If you google Nella Cordelia her mama was a member here when I had my son a few years back and wrote a really great honest blog about her experience. I remember her name was Kelly but that's all I can think of.

I've read this post and it was beautiful. I have several friends with downs, and they are so sweet. I'm sure you already know this will change your life a lot Hopefully you'll be surprised at all the wonderful changes that happen too.
  • With my first pregnancy my test came back positive for down syndrome she is now 3 years old there is still a possibility your baby will not have it but it's still good to prepare just in case

Thank you @Ebiejay, @Blueyedsky, and @babygirlm181. I've spent time with kids with Down's. @babygirlm181 - I did the CVS test last week which confirmed the diagnosis. One of our next steps steps is to set up an appointment with Children's and meet with a prenatal geneticist and get to know the medical staff there. I need to have some additional prenatal testing there as well.

I'm not sure how certain those results are. I know it's a bit scary, I have a friend who was told her baby would have downs but was born completely fine. Good luck mom
