AFLAC Disability

Any STM's have experience with Aflac disability insurance? I'm a teacher and do not pay into SDI so a couple years ago I signed up for Aflac insurance knowing we'd try and get pregnant in the following years. I'm trying to decide how much time off I should take and this will help! Thanks in advance :)

    I don't have any experience with this, but I used to be a teacher and had this insurance. We had a wonderful rep that came to our school and we could call or meet with for any questions. I found that ours was so helpful and it wasn't like just talking to another insurance person. Maybe you could talk with your rep!

    Thanks! I'm going to call them soon because we no longer have a rep at our site :( I used to have a coworker who was able to extend her maternity leave quite a bit with this type of insurance but she no longer works at my school. I guess I was just curious if there was anything I should know that the insurance reps won't tell me. Thanks for your help :)

    Read into your policy to make sure maternity leave is covered under disability. I also work for the my local school district and was out on short term disability for 6 months. Aflac pays out pretty quick. If I remember correctly I recieved my first check 15 days from that date that I went out. Good luck!

    Oh... Also Aflac won't pay out for any pre-existing medical conditions.
