Mobile

With my older son, we had a mobile in the crib. It was one of those items that I deemed to be a waste of money and decided not to purchase this time around.

My sister in law, who is an incredibly talented graphic designer, created a beautiful mobile for us and gifted it to us for the nursery while she was visiting this weekend. I absolutely love it! She made it special to match the nursery colors and theme and it is very clear how much hard work she put in to it. The attached picture does it absolutely NO justice!

My struggle is this - to me, it's more of an art/decorative piece than a traditional mobile. I can't decide if I should hang it above the crib, changer/dresser, glider or somewhere else.

Does anyone have something similar that they are planning to hang from the ceiling and where did you put it? Any pics would be welcome too!

    I ordered this one and I'm not sure where to hang it. I may hang it for now over crib and then move it over the glider. I thought I read they may keep baby's awake?

    I've been trying to figure out the best way to hang it! Our current rooms ceilings are too high to use.

    Both very cute!!

    I had a hard time figuring out how to hang it at first, then I figured that a ceiling hook and fishing line would work well. Our ceilings are too high to just hang it from the ceiling I think.

    I absolutely love the one SIL made and I love that this LO will have a little piece of his/her auntie here since she doesn't live locally.

    I put one up with both of my kids, and just moved it to above the rocking chair when they were bigger. DD's is still hanging in the corner of her bedroom and she is 6. She had a less traditional mobile, so it works.

    I never did buy a mobile for DS because I didn't think it was worth spending the money. But if someone had given it to me, I'd put it over the changer/dresser or over the crib. DS did show interest in things like that once he was a few months old. Maybe it would be a nice distraction over the changer?

    It's gorgeous BTW.

    That is so unique !!!! I plan on putting one above the crib. Didn't get one yet. Theme is safari animals.

    Oh I love it! Elephants are the theme for my little man's stuff (he's not getting a separate nursery since I'm in a one bedroom, meh)! I totally forgot about a mobile, oops!

    Thank you @MamaOwl15. My SIL is incredibly talented and we have her art work all over the house - sculptures, paintings, even our wedding cake topper! I love having her work displayed around our house and I always love to show it off since it's all so amazing!

    We are doing a dumbo theme (I'm a Disney fanatic) but I didn't want ALL dumbo because I didn't want it to be tacky/overwhelming. We did grey/turquoise/yellow for the colors and used a bunch of elephants (along with giraffes and lions - circus animals) as accents.

    @batmom05 he's got elephants on his walls and other animals. Everywhere I go to get decorations I see elephants or giraffes! Love love love them. Grey and turquoise for us too lol

    Ordered this the other day. It's 99% for decor. I'll hang it above the crib to begin with and may move it or raise it once baby can stand up.

    @carlymarie021 WHERE DID YOU FIND THOSE CURTAINS?! They are exactly what I'm looking for!

    We are doing the grey chevron too (so clean looking) and our turquoise is a little darker, which the yellow is very light. I'll try to post a few pictures later on!

    Thank you so much! My grandmother made them for me she's my hero!! Joann fabrics carries this fabric. It's a darker grey .. Not exactly what I wanted but I ended up loving it!! The rug I got from Target!! It is so so soft. Perfect for a nursery.

    For DD I made a butterfly one and plan to make a pinwheel one for this baby if it is a boy (the butterfly one is very pink!) We hung it from the ceiling over the glider and DD could see it from her crib or when she was nursing in the chair.
