Approaching 20 weeks, the thought of another 5-5 1/2 months of pregnancy feels like forever!!! All the "9 months" media references to pregnancy that are ingrained in our culture set us up for thinking pregnancy is so much shorter than it actually is. This morning, I'm incensed by it!
Re: 10+ months of pregnancy
I hope that makes you feel a little better!
It's like having a "9-5" job. Working hours are 8-5....when I got into the real world after graduating college I felt like I'd been lied to my whole life.
Well, most people don't really count the first month because the 10 months is based on you LMP. Although you have had your period and your pregnancy cycle has begun, you haven't really conceived and implanted for two to three weeks after your period.
That's why I just go by the week system......I find it annoying when you ask women how far along they are and they use "months" That could be a four week difference!
I think part of it is a function of living in Southern California. I know a lot less people here who've been pregnant. People seem to procreate later in life here.
When I go to my company headquarters in Minnesota, I can usually get away with saying weeks. Same with my Ohio friends.
