I'm team green and have a boys name but no girls name. I already have two daughters The first one was easy we used to family name the second one was baby girl in the hospital because I couldn't pick a name because I don't like any girls names and was pressured into Mackenzie at the last minute by my husband and parents. I don't hate her name I just wish it was something I just fell in love with but that doesn't seem to happen for me.
I lost my little brother last year and his name was John but we called him Johnny. I really like it when names mean something so I was hoping to incorporate his name even if it's a girl. I would love to use Johnnie as a middle name. And I am totally against things like Joni and feminine forms of Johnny I either want to use the name or not at all. Lol. I don't love any of these but they are the only things I don't hate. Help!

Evelyn Johnnie
Lillian Johnnie
Johnnie Lynn (call her jojo)
Elise
Eleanor

  • I like Lillian Johnnie from your list. What about Joanna, Johanna or Jane to honor your brother?
  • Thank you but I do not like any feminine variations of the name.
  • Our last name is Laramee, is Lillian Laramee too much???? Because I really do love that name. Also both of my daughters initials are MML. But I don't like any other M names so it's ok if I don't stick with that right? Lol. I feel like I'm loosing my mind! I hope it's a boy to avoid all this!
  • I like Eleanor best out of your options, but Eleanor Johnnie doesn't work, and I can't picture sisters named Eleanor and Mackenzie. I would go with Lillian. Would you use John as the middle name instead of Johnnie? Johnnie is still a feminization, so I feel like John is a better tribute and flows better as a middle name.

I love just honoring him with by going with John. Eleanor John Laramee is beautiful and normally I'm against all masculine names on girls but I think it's much better than Johnnie. I think Lillian Laramee is too much.

    My order of preference:

    Lillian John
    Eleanor John
    Evelyn John

I think John flows better than Johnnie, BUT, if you're certain you want Johnnie instead, just do it. Honoring a family member is more important than flow. I'd definitely keep it in the mn spot though. I think the mn is the perfect place to honor family names

  • I like Eleanor John.

You mentioned that you didnt want a female version of Johnny, but then you changed the spelling to Johnnie. If you want to use Johnny instead of John, just spell it Johnny. She is going to care more about the fact that she is named after her uncle that you were close to, and about the fact that you took the time to change the spelling from "y" to "ie" to make it more feminine....which you said you didn't want to do.

I wouldn't side eye a female with a male middle name, if there was a family reason to why she got that name.
