Avery for a boy? suggestions?

I'm obsessed with the name Avery for our boy. But my husband doesn't love it.

He likes Wesley. I love Wes but am not sure on Wesley.

Middle name is going to be Jacob after my cousin that passed away tragically. Last name is Hudson. We already have a son named Jax/Jaxson.

We're just looking for something a little different. My hubby says he doesn't love Avery because it can't be shortened. Ugh! I know we still have a while to go but I hate not having a name now that we know it's a boy!

I love the name Avery. As a former teacher I had a student named Avery. I loved that kid and I also despised him. Typically, I don't like names I associate with people I do not particularly like but that name is beautiful. Some names just don't need a shortened version. Avery Jacob Hudson has a nice ring too it too. And Jackson and Avery go well as brothers' names!

I love Avery! Jackson and Avery together make me think of grey's anatomy though haha. If your other child is spelled jaxon, I doubt others would make that connection.

If you like Wes but not Wesley, what about the name Weston?

My friends little brothers name is Jason Avery! It fits him well, although I think Avery works better for a girl as a first name.

I like the name Avery, and Avery Jacob Hudson flows very well. Then again, so does Wesley Jacob Hudson.

I agree with PP, maybe try suggesting to hubby the name Weston (that is if you like the name). And remember, you can always call him Wes even if his name is Wesley. Who knows, it might grow on you.

Back to the name Avery with your DS name... I immediately think of Grey's Anatomy, which isn't a bad thing because helloooo who doesn't love looking at the man?

Avery is more of a girls name now days, however, if you like it do it. That is all that matters. I find people are quick to give opinion on naming suggestions, but once the baby is here, people would say they love any name you give your child.

What about Jacob Avery? Since Jacob can be shortened? I know it's not unique though....

Since you asked for opinions, I'm not a fan of Avery - I've never heard of it as a boy name.

I like Avery. It fits my criteria: easy to spell, easy to say, recognizable without being overly popular. I know zero girls named Avery and only one little boy.

That name was actually on my list for a boy! Unfortunately my SO wasn't a fan of it because r wasn't masculine enough he said... (What do guys know anyways) lol but yes, I adore that name for a boy. Personally like it better for a boy than girl.

Thanks everyone!! I just have to hope and pray he comes around. My heart is SO set on Avery. I can't do Jacob Avery because I think it'd be weird, given that I'm naming him after my cousin that passed away. I'd rather use Jacob for a middle name. But now I just have that added motivation that I'm not crazy for loving this name and I'm really gonna stick to my guns.. I just love it! I LOVE Avery for a boy! Maybe hubby will come around. I wasn't super fond of one of DH's favorite names when he first mentioned it, but he loves it so much I'm starting to consider it.

My 15 yr old niece is named Avery. We call her Aves a lot. In my opinion it's more feminine than masculine but that's probably because I know a few Avery's and their all girls.
